Camoflage Uniforms

Post by Slater »

Well, the US Marines went and got themselves a new camo uniform and now the Army and Air Force are jumping on the bandwagon. Looks like each US service will have it's own distinctive pattern. Isn't this carrying things a bit far?

On a related note, how long will the basic DPM pattern soldier on in the UK?

If you look closely at the 'new' USMC dot pattern DPM. It ;looks remarkably like the dot camouflage of the Waffen SS from the late 1930's :o :o

I figure the American Army needs a new camie uniform. I think it should be blue jeans, flannel plaid shirts, red wing boots, brown leather belt with a choice big buckle. Either a cowboy hat or no hat and tank top t-shirt. The ruck sack should be kept with the addition of pork n beans, sour mash bottle, and some tobaccie.

It all seems very strange to me, surely you want to have the best camo, rather than just a distinctive pattern? And besides, when everyone else goes to copy the US types, they won't know which one to pick :).

Sounds good to me
I prefer boardies, no shirt, sunnies, slab under one arm, long board under the other 8)
DPM is DPM. Don`t like the recent British version, the material looks like it was made by the lowest bidder
Chunky, the "dot" patern was called "Autumn Woodland" or similar. It`s probably still available in a certain establishment on the Mile End Road.
If not, don`t try Marks and Sparks :o
SR Aye, companion,

Iranian Suicide Commando
Iraqi Bath Party
Iraqi Militia

Maybe our boys could take a quick look over there n if they see any well....You know what to do!

And...you oldies did such a good job Cambodia has copied and got itself a nice corps...the Cambodian Royal Marines! Any of you been offered handsome amounts of money to train them? like in the movies and stuff?

The new Marine pattern called MARPAT is eerily effective. I think the digital pattern is more like the Canadian pattern than German flekertarn(sp?).
The new Air Force pattern is ridiculous though. Blue tiger stripes?!! :o
