JTF-2

Post by Big Papa Hapa »

Just out of curiosity...has anyone heard of or had any dealings with Joint Task Force 2? They are Canada's SF unit. They took over counter-terrorism duties from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in '93. There is very little information available on them (which I think is really the way it should be). Allegedly they are 250 strong (all ranks) commanded by Lt.-Col. As I mentioned earlier, they do counter-terrorism, but they may also engage in other activities; some of which came to light last year, when they were photographed at an airbase in Afghanistan after having captured Taliban fighters and turning them over to American forces.

I know little of special forces, but from what I've read, and what I've gleaned from this website, the SAS and SBSRM seem to be the standard by which all other special forces are judged. I was curious to see how our allies regard JTF-2.

They are Canada's attempt to have a SF. As to their standards I cannot comment, nor do I know how they are selected.

Aye - Andy.

Just testing Sticky,It is a bit out of date though 1994. I'm sure that tactics have changed by now and that it is classified.

I've read the information available on websites. I was just curious if anyone had first-hand knowledge, which is really quite silly I guess because even if they did there's no way they should tell me about it!

No probs in this info-our unit is invloved in training JTF-2 during their selection process in a skill that they require. A good bunch of blokes who we have formed a healthy working realtionship with.
