Hey there

I'm an alcoholic...no wait! D'OH! I'm 10492 ish days old. I used to teach Teakwondo (assistant instructor) up until march this year when our current instructor had to move. I couldn't afford to take over the club so ultimately it closed.

Signed up for the RAF Reg. As I'm too old for anything else! :-?

Only found this forum a few days ago (shame on me) but love the humour and banter you lot dish out and now I'm a regular visitor.

Well, that's it for now and no doubt I'll slap myself upside the head after I post this when I realise I should've added something else...ho hum.

(inna J.Springer stylee) Take care of yourself...aaaaaand each other.

Hi Dog soldier.....tae kwon do huh. I used to do that when I was 16, until I entered a compatition and drew the short straw, and had to break a full board with a punch. Not having the technique I broke my knuckle. After that I never went again for some reason. About a year later I started Mai Thai Kick boxing and enjoyed it's savage intensity. I'm thinking of starting ultimate fighting round the corner from me, which really intrigues me. I would never get in a ring though, it looks bloody dangerous to me. did you ever do any competitions?

Hi JaCkAl

Agreed. Muai Thai is a lethal art. Brutal on the legs. They sometimes have K1 competitions on Eurosport, which is great to watch! :)

As for my TKD. Yep, I've been to a few competitons. I won a bronze medal in the British Taekwondo Championships back in 2000. All the others I got to various stages before being eliminated. Great fun tho!

The style I do is not like the lame Olympic TKD which doesn't use hand techniques. I can't stand that. You gotta be able to use your hands to adapt to the fighting range!

I also studied Kung Fu for a year and a bit to add some more variety with the close range techniques (arm/leg locks, throws etc) to my arsenal. Helped a lot

Oh and as for the UFC..not a fan myself. It just ends up with two guys hugging each other on the ground for 20 mins. Wouldn't want to do it myself but as I said, not my bag baby! :)

Muai Thai and Kick boxing is a little more fun IMHO

Ahh yes, Tai Chi. An unusual art that promises ultimate power from moving very slowly for many years. The drawback being that by the time you develop the ultimate power you are close to death anyway :D

Mau Tai is a lip killing Chinese drink, not some ancient, mystical, face smacking martial art. Doh! 8)
I was also trained in the art of Trun Che On. Various organs and joints may be attacked with relatively short jabs and lunges. The occasional shriek of joy as one connects with a Mick appendage is allowed. :lol
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.
