How do they build you u to run 30miles?
I was looking at the pictures of the 30miler and i wanted to now how do they train you to run 30miles? What is the pace for it? Is it a slow jog? do they have breaks etc? do they run up hills as well? What weight is all the speed marches and this done with?

Oh you don't want to worry about a little thing like the 30 miler, only takes one day out of your life!
By the time you get to it, you'll be fitter than a butchers dog, and half as intelligent, if some of the blokes on the moor at weekend are anything to go by.

You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Hey what you got to worry about every year thousands of stupid civvies run 26 miles dressed up as alarm clocks and stranger weirder things. I watched this year as the oldest person crossed the line he was something like 86 I think, so a RMC shouldn’t have trouble with a 30 like yomp…

All I want in life is a cold beer, a fast car, a big F**King gun and a hot woman to fetch the beer, and clean the car! is that really to much to ask? - Quotes by a redneck.com

The 30miler aint "run" as such, its yomped (running/jogging the downhills and some flats) and marching hard uphill.
I aint a fantastic runner, yet, I can do 30milers etc.
This was mainly from all the stuff we do at ATC & Sennybridge, lots of distance covered, all kinda of sh*tty weather and lots of weight,
Winter Wander events (20miles over local terrain), Ten Tours, trips to Brecon, 3 Peaks (havent done it yet...plan to) etc have all prepared me well for this kidna stuff, you just get used to it after a while.....im glad ive done it now, takes a bit of getting used to, but the 30miler aint what im bricking it about in the commando tests anyhow, itll be hard, very hard, always is, jus dig in and keep going.
Get yourself into some events like Ten Tours, 3peaks etc if you fancy it, I would have loved to do the Yomp30 the other weekend, but was busy
. I'd recommend doing some though before going for training, so you know what to expect more than anything. Though you'll be trained to the point where you CAN DO IT, before they let you lose on dartmor

Sorry El Prez (on knees, begging forgivness
), yep, its tors....long day.
Did the 45miler 2years ago with my school (KLB School), who incidently had the 55mile team this year that broke the record for the event (was on ITV news etc, Gregg Ward who was in the team) Good stuff, shame the teacher running the event is a twat

Don't under estimate it Phil. It comes after a severe beasting of 28 weeks which can hardly be described as a planned progression. Many lads carry injuries into it but crack on because it puts all your misery at an end. I felt knackered all the way through training - I never once felt fit. What did improve beyond recognition was my ability to run on empty and endure pain.I can do 30milers
I got the impression that the lads left at the end of the 30 weeks would still be there if the course was twice as long and twice as hard (unimaginable that one). The green lid and the oppo's you'll make is worth all that and more though mate

Thanks a lot for the info! i have done my silver d of e but that is the furthest i have walked with a haeavy bergen!
The biggest worry for me is my feet! I have flat feet so on my d of e i was in agony by the third day! I am meant to be having some insoles made before my prmc to help with my running because it sometimes hurt if i run with with a pack on, on roads, but the stupid doctor has not got back to me God dam the NHS!
I would love to go yomping etc but none of my mates are into that kind of thing so if anyone lives near by which i doubt or would like to go for a yomp that would be great! Is there anyone that lives in Lincolnshire? i would of loved to do the 30miler but didn't read about it til the other day!
