The shorter training course, pretty uniform, and kindly training staff do seem to attaract a few recruits to the Para Regt, but in the case of HM Corps RM, quality will shine through.

Hi Monkey and welcome. Don't let me influence your choice of career but just consider the following points.
1. In the navy, the officers and other ranks are all doomed together when the worst happens.
2. In the army (and similar aggressive organisations), the officers send the other ranks over the top to get killed.
3. In the RAF, the other ranks help the officers strap themselves into several tons of lethal machinery and send them off to get killed.
Self preservation has a lot to be said for it!
Good luck in whatever you do mate.

count your blessings, not mine
Apologies on my bad english El Prez, as for why I want to join the Royal Marines... Pride in what I'd be doing is one of the main reasons i suppose, and who in their right mind would turn down a paid holiday into the worst countries and conditions imaginable with the added risk of getting your ass shot off... not this monkey!
