Who has the right!!!

Post by flo »

The wives of returning Royal Marines from our unit have been told that they should not go to Brize to meet their hubbies of the plane when they do eventually return. The heirarchy have decided to put all wives and family members into the mess and to have reunions there, so it can be more controlled!! Personally i feel that they have no right to dictate this ,as i would like to take my children to see their father return from war and give him the welcome he so richly deserves. He has also asked that we meet him. Surely the families have a right to see there men home as it would put closure on this episode for the children and it would also give them something to remember. Even if they have to go back on the coach with the lads that would be fine, or am i just being neurotic and picking at straws.

Quite right Flo, I agree that you should be able to go to
Brize.Like you say from the childrens point of view Dad
getting off a plane after a war and being able to greet his family is far
better than meeting in the mess.Mind you for some it would be the only time they would be allowed into the Mess.
Don't forget the lads who may have no-one to meet them as well, take a few ladies from Union St.That would liven the bus journey up im sure.
Good Luck anyway Flo.

Sounds to me like someone`s dropped a right bollock here, haven`t they?Besides not thinking about the famillies, there`s mileage in the pictures that would come out of this. The lads should be met on the Tarmac at Brize, with a reception in the mess (at Brize). Transport paid by Pusser. Bet that`s what happens with Perce. Once again, the Corps publicity machine is bang on. Er, sadly not. Over to you, Perce, to show us how it should be done.
Kin outragious. Money no object on the outward journey.
Get on to the Sun, Flo.
Aye,

Positive publicity has never been one of the Corps strong points, in fact, quite the reverse. What is the difference in families waiting at the quayside for a ship to dock and families waiting on the tarmac for a plane to land.

The Americans tend to go overboard when it comes to welcoming their forces home, heroes welcome and all that. All that the families are asking for is to be the first to greet their spouses. Is that too much to ask?

Aye - Andy. :o

Flo, the Walk On Water Brigade may have power over the Forces but they sure as hell can't stop families welcoming their loved ones home from war where ever the touch down is.

I would like to see that one tried here, the families would Lynch The Pippers :fist:

Tell the idiot to go and jump in a pile of shite. No one can or should dictate at this level, what were not proud of what our lads have done.
Tell them that you have organised the coaches and will be outside the gates with the press, then see what they do.....

Pompus bloody pratts sat behind desks with nothing better to do than spoil home comings yet again.

Go for it Flo tell them at GMTV and the SUN.

Short answer flo is that no-one has the right to stop you. So get your bum in gear and get up to Brize and have a very happy home coming and to hell with the powers that be !!

Already been in touch with the Sun and a photographer will be there as will a large contingent of families Including myself and sprogs. Bugger the idiot who decided this. I explained to the sun that the Army organised the flights and dont want a fuss made (lets face it, Royal did the work) so the Sun have decided to do a feature and will be giving Royal the hero's welcome he so rightly deserves. What bugged me was the fact that they said they could control the reunion. (NOBODY HAS EVER CONTROLLED A BOOTIE WIFE - NOT EVEN ROYAL)

I think this is bloody ridiculous.
It may however be a 'big wig' idea to convey that the UK was not an invading force etc( much like the reason a parade wont happen).

If they dont want it trumpeted about then they dont have to splash it across the media then!

For Gods sake, let the wives and kids go, but just keep the media away! No-one would be any the wiser then and no precious feelings will get hurt!

(I think ive just smashed my keyboard up I was typing so hard then! It makes me so mad!)
Why? Because I can!

I would think that the person who thought this one up has probably just had a row with his wife and is taking it out on every one else.
