ANZAC Day
ANZAC Day
Probably a stupid question, but the speed of messages to "down-under" can be really slow at times!
Is it correct that those of us who were serving in 1977 at the Silver Jubilee and didn't win the lottery, at the time, are now able to retrospectively claim a Silver Jubilee medal?
I ask, purely with ANZAC Day fast approaching, that it seems a shame for those of us who seek to represent the Corps "down here" on such a major day to Aussies should be "missing out" on displaying "our" history.
I mean, Bougainville, East Timor and Sinai (all monitoring) don't exactly leap off the page when it comes to military service?
As an aside, it appears these so-called peace protestors intend to stage a demo at this year's ANZAC Day march. I hope not as there will be some pretty angry scenes.
If you have become an Aussie, like me, then the one thing you learn is this day is special and nobody mucks with it.
My "head doctor" yes I have one of those, has already asked how I will feel if there are demos. Like I told him I don't start fights, but as a Royal Marine I always finish them....watch this space i will let you know how it goes.
regards to all

Anzac Day
As one of those marching in Perth W/Australia along with the RM Association, and we hope, Harry. We hope to have the usual cheers and good natured banter between all ranks and the different services . It is usually a very good day spent with like minded people .

ANZAC Day
Allan,
my feelings exactly. This is year 7 that I have marched (ie all the years I have been here) and I don't want to see a great Aussie icon disrupted by rent-a-mob, in as much as I was warning off the guys in UK when it comes around to Armistice Day or some similar significant event.
Have a good one

I hope to have a good day here in Perth and don`t expect the sort of scenes witnessed at anti-war demos in the Eastern States.
Though with Allan Buckley turning to, anything`s possible
Have a good`un, boys

LIKE HARRY AND ALAN I WILL BE MARCHING WITH THE RMA ON ANZAC DAY THIS WILL BE MY 20th MARCH AND TO DATE WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT GREAT RESPECT HERE IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA
I THINK A FEW OF US ARE NEVERTHELESS PREPARED FOR THE USELESS RENT A CROWD AND TREE HUGGERS WHO RECENTLY GAVE A DISGUSTING DISPLAY AGAINST THE GULF WAR
LETS HOPE THEY STAY AT HOME AND LET THE VETS ENJOY THEIR DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
JIM LEWIS

Have a good day lads, Anzac is one of those days which usually unites all Aussies, sad change if the huggers spoil it.
Anybody any idea which coronation Owdun and JR are discussing? William of Orange, Henry (any one) Glenda Jackson?

MEDALS
Go and pin your medals on;Be proud they're yours to wear.Pull your shoulders back a bit And let the youngsters stare.
They are yours by right of war,By service to the Crown. They are symbols that you did not let your country down.
Wear them proudly on your chest And let who will deride. They are yours by right of war,so carry them with Pride.Aye JR
Who needs the World as your Oyster,When you've had the world as your cap Badge
