Gutted! Got put on hold for 6 months.....

Post by ash2003 »

I just had my interview and go put on hold for 6 months. The guy said the reason for this was I needed sometime to mature and I need to be goin all out on the fitness. He also said I need to bulk out. Im 16 (19/03/1986) around 5'9"-5'10" and weigh 70Kg. Anyone know what the maximum weight is for my height and how to bulk out without going over weight?

I'm gutted for you but at least you are young enough to have a few more attempts at it. You have another 11 years to join – Don’t do what I did and leave it till you’re 27yrs 6 months! I am 5' 11" and weigh 74kg, which is a spot-on for my height/frame. There seems nothing wrong to me with your height\weight. I was a right skinny git at the age of 16, weighed in at only 9 stones – always had the pis* taken out of me. I started to eat 6 small portions of good quality carbs\protein a day and hit heavy weights for 3 times a week. You will also fill-out with age – trust me!

Maybe it was because you were only 16yrs old – I don’t really have an answer.

I was going to be rejected on the basis of not being debt-free but my determination turned it around – I was kind of lucky too! I was also told that when a guy comes in with a house and a £30K+ job and wants to take a £20K pay cut then this also gets ‘alarm bells’ sounding!

Keep working hard at it and you will eventually hit your goals.

Good luck mate.

Firstly, LM why do the alarm bells start ringing?I dont earn quite as much as you but its in that region. Did they elaborate on this?
Secondly, Ash. Sorry to hear that. I think they may have turned you back cos your 16 and probably come across as very young. Maybe they want you to go away and think about things to make sure what your doing is right for you. In 6 months your 6 months older (no s***t sherlock :) ) with 6 months more experience and your views may have changed. Only my guess. Just go back and harass them in 6 months. On your weight, I too was a wiery frame at 16, im now 6'0 and 80kg which is about right, you will fill out with time, there really is no miracle to bulking out at 16, your body is still growing.
Keep at it mate :D

Sorry to hear the news Ash.
Take their advice.
Beasta is right in what he says, in six months time you will look apon reflections differently.
This will enable you to cram more training in, etc.

80Kg... wish i was! ;)

Yeah. I thought it was down to my age at the end of the day or I think he would of rejected me. Instead he put me on hold for 6 months. He said personally he thinks the RN is more suited for me and finks thats the way I'll eventually head but he said its my choice. I gotta ring him in 6 months for just a chat and then if he thinks im more suited he'll get me a medical and PRMC. He said I wont have to start the selection procedure again so won't need an interview, which is good. Gonna get a full time office job and Im getting ready to follow the Fighting Fit exercise regime for the SAS (from the book by Adrian Weale).

I'm gonna make sure I go back there more confident, strong and fit as hell and more grown up. No worries :-?
