Gurkhas

Can gurkhas apply for Sf selection. If so do any? or do they stick with their regiments?

I dont know much about the Gurkhas so supply some info and I'll see what I can do.

info point 1 - go to a search engine eg http://www.google.com and search for "Gurkha" or "Gurkha training" etc

info point 2 - as for Gurkhas joining special forces, I'm not sure, perhaps someone else can help.

I always thought gurkhas were special forces due to the small unit amount and operations they do. Correct me if im wrong but anyone from the army can apply so saying that i see no reason why not,ill go try find out thou.

I just thought of something gurkhas remain nepalise ( spelling?) nationality and do not become british citizens,wouldnt that eradicate them from applying?

Correct, Gurkhas keep their Nepal nationality and are discharged back to Nepal on completion of service. Ruling them out of any type of Uk SF selection.

Anybody who has seen a Ghurka unit, let alone worked with one, will tell you that they are some of the most professional soldiers in the world. They are extremely proud of their traditions and their units. This country has a long association with the Nepalese, and continues through successive governments to do them a grave injustice over their pension and pay rights. If you ever meet a Ghurka private address him as 'Rifleman', his smile will say it all.
