The Parachute Regiment

Post by Robin »

I've been thinking about joining the Parachute Regiment and there are a few things I'd like to know. Once you have completed the training and been placed into your battalion, do you stay for a month solid or can you go home every weekend. I'd also like to know how much you get paid straight from training and how you can build up your pay. Any other info is good too.

Thanks,

Robin

There is nothing wrong with the Navy, I respect those who are in its just not something I'd like to do myself.

Okay, thanks Jay. Well I won't be joining till I'm 18 and I'm 15 now so I've got plenty of time to get fit :D

Hello,

You are not a prisoner at you battallion! Its a job mate, you are fortunate that HMAF are all volunteers!

At 15 dont start going mental with your fitness, join a few after school sport clubs and have some fun.

I dont know off hand how much a Tom gets straight out of depot these days, but the Army website, (link on the bottom of the page) will have that info.

You get paid more when you gain experinece and acheive rank, as a Para you would also get parachute pay, which is a few extra quid a day.

Check out the Reg website, www.parachute-regiment.co.uk.

Am not going to be able to access PC much mate, but feel free to PM and I'll reply as soon as I can.

Good day to you Robert,

I am sorry to say I havn't been involved with the Green Goddess.

I imagine they were a bit more sprightly when you were taking them out for a spin 25 years ago? :P
