RM Snipers

Post by ratso »

Just caught the tail end of a brilliant program on the RM Snipers, what we have the best in the world, Awwwwhhhhh Go On!

Its on the History channel with a second part next week though I don't think this will be about the RM. Well worth watching out for.

I have seen the documentary on the British Snipers, an extremely formidable lot to be reckoned with! during my tenure as a marine sniper being taught the history first hand about how we came to be, can attribute our modern sniper program to the british "guillies". The only way we as American Snipers can ever hope to be the best, is to learn from the best that is the Royal Marine Snipers!

I always thought the NSA had the 'best' snipers.

at first I read that as "NASA had the best snipers". i got a teensy bit confused there, why do you need a gun in space? you'd need quite a high powered scope...

Bloke who lives near me did the ole sniper course and showed me a piccy of his course.

SAS, USMC, Navy SEALS all on it. Royal would seem to be rather good at it do you not think chaps.

The 7.62 tongue lashing was a terrific weapon on Nods or anybody who jarred you off. Typically it has been reduced to the 5.56 smack across the chops. Sniping was done when your mates beer was left unattended, and sandys were applied to it. 8)

I've had some magnificent tongue lashings. My knees go weak just thinking about them, still, enough about The Strip! I believe that the current weapon is the L96 A1, though I might be wrong about the A1 bit.

Did my course with an L42 with a X3 sight. My Yank partner was constantly amused with this antique. He described the sight as "One above a iron sight" No wonder my eyes are so bad now. Who said that?
