Routine

Post by Secure »

In the navy you always get fish & chips Friday lunch, Steaks on Saturday nights at sea, Sunday roast every Sunday without fail and virtually the same breakfast every day.
Apparently it breaks the routine up? :o

How things have improved since this old b**tard was in the andrew
Fish & chips /Steak/Sunday roast???????
It was dehydrated spuds and carrots with canned spam
followed by Chinese wedding cake

And as for Sliced carrots and mince in a force 9 it was A bully beef sandwich if you were lucky

This of course was nearly 60 years ago thing could only get better

Go on admit it, it was the sail changes between courses that really pissed you off. :P

Be honest now chaps, you wouldn't have told them anyway, at least not until Plymouth was back in sight. I can't imagine having to live on board with a bunch of crabby pongos, must have been interesting.

Mike did you notice the Endurance is once again on the Wilkinsons list?

Were they the crowd of Danes who sold the Anita Dan to the the Pusser in the first place..... or have I got the wrong end of the......... spreader?.
The Plumb must have been the best comish ever, who else can visit the Carrabean, South America, East and West, The South Atalanic Dependancies and the Antartic all in one, and do little for the privalidge.... and get payed for it.......can't be bad.
Lots of stories to come from there I 'll sure.
Just sorry that it all had to change and so much sorrow that came from the area (meaning FI).

1978. Fearless being Dartmouth training Ship embarked bunch of middys, all races.
Large contingent of Iranian middys.
Iranian middy to hacked off killick chef. 'What is this meat?.
Reply, 'Beef mate' All Iranian middys help themselfs to 'beef' start eating.
Killick chef waits untill they are well into lasts few morsels and shouts 'sorry pal thats not beef it's pork' I have never seen anything like it before or since, Iraninan middys go spare threatening to kill killick chef etc, etc. Word reached Iraninan emmbassy. Killick chef gets quickest draft ever seen. Last time I saw him was CinCnavhome in 1987 by then a fleetchief. Asked him if he remembered the Fearless 'incident' 'Bloody right' was the reply. I have an admission to make, however I must add it was a big boy who did it and ran away. When I worked in Sarawak the company was Malaysianised, and we were given new Malay co-pilots, one was called Aziz, and of course he was addressed as A212. Anyway, I digress. these chaps were really impressed with the food on offshore platforms and especially enjoyed breakfast. Their favourite was 'beef' sausages and scrambled eggs. It was at least six months before the penny dropped. 8)
Aziz actually started screaming one day during an approach to a heli-deck. he was convinced the Puma was going to spear in, foolish boy.
