If this is with the intention of joining up I would say just keep up with running in trainers(no weight), go to the gym and get some upper body phys and circuit training but leave the speed marching prep to the professionals, they will get you up to speed as it were and they will ease you into it, you could do more damage than good without the right preparation. I'm no PTI(my hair is too long now for hair gel) but I would leave it upto them.

Leigh is right just keep up the running and wait for your PTI and Training Team do the rest. Too many try getting out with packs on their backs before joining up and end up doing too much damage to their lower legs. Concentrate on running and high rep circuits in the gym with plenty of cardio vascular work.

speed marching

Post by Dave220784 »

Im a royal Reservist, and have to train for speed marches in my own time. what i have now managed to achive is to run 9 and 1/2 miles in the time it takes to do a normal nine miler. i run in trainers with a back pack weighing around 30lbs.

however i would not advice this to anyone who is about to go in the marines full-time beacause the training team are there to get you to this standard in 30 weeks in time for you to do the commando test. trying to sustain that level of physical fitness before going in could result in an injury. which would not be a good day out
