RMA members do not get a free issue.
The cost of the G & L in UK is approx £8.60 for 6 editions this includes post and packaging.
It has been suggested that the RMA should get a free issue, however this would increase the current subscription to the RMA Central Office from £3.50/annum to presumably £12. Although they may be a small discount for bulk buying.

I stopped taking the G&B when they stopped putting a separate half-a-crown (2/6p) in my hand at payday. This had already been deducted from my pay.
The main reason is you don't get into it unless you are shaking the hand of some Maj General or visiting King etc.
Now as RMA were are being told by G&B to reduce the size of the articalls that are but in by branches as it takes up too much room.
Not only that but the print size is smaller on the RMA pages than anywhere in the rest of it. Yet more RMA members wear glasses on a day to day basis.
But there are more ex RM's out here than there are serving.
So it would be more helpfull all round if the RMA section was printed in a readable size font, and was greater, hence "advertising" that the RMA is out there and is contactable etc.
It seems that what ever is suggested from the outside world, ie the people with experiance, then they take no notice and do what they think is a good idea.

Hi Brain
Hi All
Yes I do like the new Format,I found it very informative not only reguarding service activities but also the activities of the Branches, and I,m sorry Yorkie I can,t agree as to the amount of space allocated to the Branches I found it quite adequate there appeared to be enough space for the branches "who take the time to write in" to put their activities and forthcomming events in,in general I found it good reading. As for free issues,I recieve both the RBL Mag + the G&L,as Brian has stated although it appears the RBL Mag comes free the price is included in membership fees.At the present I would say that the G&L is thicker and has more interesting topics, this is mainly because we are given the information as to what is happening within the corps,as for the font size at 63Yrs I have no problems reading all the pages either with or without specs.
Brian whilst on the subject do the G&L do a Braille edition "IF REQUIRED"? If I remember corectly I think the RBL do.
All I have left to say is well done G&L keep it up,there is always room for improvement.

The reason for shortening the RMA section was:-
To make it short and crispy rather than overbearing, and to increase the font size, so it was easier to read.
I'm not aware of any "braille" editions.
The change has come about presumably because of the appointment of a new editor.
I personally like the new format and think it is a little more professional looking although the content has not changed that much.

Hi all, just received my copy and it looks great; especially the photo on the front cover which 'eye' like! Having seen copies of other outfits' magazines in RAF and Army messes, ours is excellent. It could do with a reference somewhere to this web site. Has there ever been one, as I found civvie-street by accident?

Once a Marine.... has not been mentiones that I'm aware of, however they could consider a section for RM related web site address.

The G&L is good value - I subscribe, I do find though that it is strictly for "good news" & good boys! I sent in an article "A Cry from the Wilderness" (see in Misc Disc) and have been told it cannot be put in cos it's "not the appropriate forum for airing these matters"..... Shame, I thought it to be the only one where RMA matters could be aired! It seems that THIS is the only one really.
