"The new equality bill also contains provisions for positive discrimination, permitting political parties to use all-women election shortlists until 2030, although it does not go so far as to provide for all-ethnic minority shortlists. Positive action will, however, be extended, allowing employers to take into account gender and ethnicity when selecting between two equally qualified candidates."

Parity and fairness are paramount, but it should be for all. This type of nonsense hasn't worked in some areas, is divisive and potentially dangerous. That said, if it is politicians that are in danger then I might just turn a blind eye!

I wonder if I would stand a better chance of being selected for a position if I mentioned that I am 'mixed race' (half Irish, half English with ancient connections to the French and Danish).

The forces are supposed to represent the society it protects, However when it comes to Equality then maybe it should be society reflecting us??

We have all sorts of people all fighting for a common cause, We all have our different beliefs but it never comes to anything. For instance I work with fijians, Ghanaians Christians Muslims, all in the green skin all talking the same Lingo and getting on.

We are soldiers one and all no difference when the chips are down.

Society should take a look at our Micro Universe and take some notes!!!
