Pretty bloody outrageous!

While I do not personally ascribe the the "values" held by supporters of this kind of thing (the sex change, that is), I nevertheless cannot imagine the confusion and sadness that "she" has gone though leading up to this transformation and so I am compelled to sympathise (in part). She was treated shabbily by an organization that should have matured beyond being embarrassed about such issues (which is, perhaps, an indication that the Armed Forces heirarchy is somewhat lagging behind the times in reation to the society it purports to serve).

Yet, a far greater shame is the lack of regard for the sacrifice of our troops. Not only should injured soldiers be compensated far more than the current pitance for physical injuries, but proven cases of mental distress should also be compensated for, proportionally.

If ever there was a case for a petition, this is it. It's already been done, I'm sure, but clearly no one is listening!

Anglo, what you have to remember is when he was asked to turn up in a males uniform, he couldnt have very well have turned up in a females uniform as as far as Im aware, there isnt one for the para's. He probably wanted to wear a skirt instead of his CS95's (which are worn by men & women)

Personally I find this disgusting, a professional Army has no place for gender benders.

Also, to find that it's getting a large payout because it got stroppy is an insult to our injured lads who get absolutely peanuts.

Thank's Nu Labour!

That is f@#k disgusting and insulting to every man and woman in the British Forces.

I watched the documentaries and he/she came across as a decent human being (I've not got any personal hatred for transexuals) but to accept a payout like that purely because they had to wear a man's uniform to an appointment in a regiment that they joined of their own free will, that only allows men is sickening.

You're lucky to get a tenner to losing your leg in Iraq nowadays, have your dick chopped off and a quarter of a million?

When he signed on for the Army he signed on as a male, now just what difference between what he was when he signed to what he is now. The question is what is the difference between men and women apart from the sexual glands. Can he ever give birth well the answer is NO. Does he have have ovaries Well NO, Although he might have some thing like Mammary glands could he ever breast feed a baby, well NO. So just what what is he, well he is a person that no longer has a penis and has had plastic surgery to form some thing like a Virgina, but does this make him a woman. Answers to Harry on a post card

Is he still an active member of the parachute regiment as surely the policy on women and front line billets should come in to effect?

how can they justify giving him an easy 1/4 of a million when lads loosing to lims dont even push £200,000?

f@#k labour make me sick sometimes!

What a complete load of crap. Apparantly this thing isn't just milking the system for everything he/she/it can.

The bloody uniform, ie CS95, is the same for every soldier, irrespective of gender. And did this person really think that they were going to remain in a post as a media rep for the military, after what he/she had done? Bringing the Regiment into disrepute is a chargeable offence, and I'd say that this qualifies as that.

Funny how the fact that he/she was TA is never mentioned in these reports.
