Gay in the army?
I'm gay and considering joing the army again, by again i mean i considered joining before, did my BARB test and all about 3 years ago and now slightly regret not joining.
I just wanted to get people's opinions, whether being gay matters or you should keep quiet or just completely not bother?
All replies will be appreciated.
Thanks

Never did Doc any harm
And H_N says it`s compulsory in the RAF. It`s the only reason he joined
To generalise, most of HM Forces are heterosexual. Overtly so.
They will use words to describe homosexuals and display attitudes which you may consider offensive. Which is fair enough, you want to join them, they don`t want to join you.
If you want plenty of grief then you start playing the gay card as soon as you get out of training till you have enough of a case to sue the MoD, and you’ll get filled-in on a regular basis.
If you actually want to join HM Forces as an opportunity to serve your country, as an equal to the people you will serve with then go for it.
You being gay will be as big an issue as you want to make it to be.
We all know gays have served since year dot. Do your job to the best of your ability and don`t make it an issue. Elmer calls it "Don`t ask, don`t tell"
That`s my two pennorth. Some agree some don`t.
Some Units are more gay-friendly, the Queens Regt, 3 Para Mortars and all of RAF Regt for example

Yes, but what if they give you a bad bumming?jabcrosshook wrote:There's nothing wrong with having gays in the army, it's not like they are going to jump on you in the night and give you a good bumming.
If you want to do it then go for it.
Or if they do it during the day?
As Harry says there are gays in the Army already, most of them are fairly quiet about it though.
If you want to do it, do it. Just don't carry a handbag, or wiggle while you walk.
