How would go about solving Britains problems
Sitting today reading the forums I noticed people complain about Britain current problems but what I'd like to see is people coming up with solutions for these problems.
It can be any problem(s), NHS, obesity, Military, Iraq, yob culture, binge drinking, crime, drugs, prisons, ageing population, it can be anything, just say what the problem is in your view and give your solution, just interested to see and have an interesting debate.
PS, don't turn it into a personal arguement.

A) Replace the current system of government with former RM Seniors
B) Bin all NHS managers as they are not funny. Replace them with Nurses and Doctors who have patients best interests at heart and not juggling quotas. Fund this by immediately scrapping Trident.
C) Make it a condition that no one is allowed to go from skool to sixth form to teacher training to back to skool as a "teacher" without spending at least five years in the real world.
D) Bin all magistrates, see A) above.
E) Victims of crime should have primacy, not the crims. Crime should not pay and the purpose of prison is not to re-habilitate the offender but to seriously punish him to the extent that he never offends again. This is particularly important for sex offenders generally and paedophiles in particular. There is no such thing as a re-habilitated paedophile.
F) Iraq has nothing to do with the so called "War on Terror", it had nothing to do with 9 11, it had no real weapons of mass destruction and posed no real threat to the interests of UK. Iran on the other hand is a leading sponsor of terrorism and will have to be dealt with. If only to wipe the smile off the smug little monkey Armoured Dinner-Jacket. Leave Iraq now. It isn`t worth the life of one British Serviceman. Leave them to Elmer, it`s his oil after all

Remove many of the silly regulations on businesses.
Get rid of all the unelected Quangos that have a budget four times the size of the defence budget but never get cut back.
If you are industry and you make a bad call and you firm losses a a lot of money then you will get fired. In the civil service if you make a bad call you seem to get promoted.
Also I think there should be a time limit on the time you can spend on the dole. It drives me mad to see fit young people doing nothing as the state will pay them more to do nothing than they can earn if they go to work. I have no objection for some one who is actually ill getting benefit but there was chap son who was a car mechanic who would visit his father every day while he is of sick with mental problems and spend all day in his father garage repairing MOT writes cars he had been given and then reselling them once he had done the repairs, seeing this was next door it was like living next to a working garage.

1)Restore to parents, teachers and the police the right to discipline children.
2)Solicitors and other legal bods should use common sense when looking at compensation claims, rather than just seeing pound signs.
3)Everyone should try doing something nice for someone else at least once a day.
4)Politicians should have some experience in whatever they are minister for, for example, the Minister for Education should at least have been a teacher.

You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

hyperlithe, I can for the most part agree with those but can I make a subtle changes?

On another note, I actually did something nice today, I gave someone my day bus pass which is worth £3.20... wooo me. I was in a good mood hehe.

I apologised to someone I was cross with when they'd done something wrong, cos they didn't know they'd done anything wrong. If that makes sense!
But I didn't feel better for it...

Regarding the NHS, honestly for all it's faults and the complaints i respect it more after being in America for a while. I had a problem with my lung over Christmas and a few check ups and one xray certainly built up a decent sum.
I know the NHS is far from perfect, but i'm still damn glad it's free.

I work with teenagers 16 years +. They can be a pain in the A*** from time to time but they are mostley decent types. However, they have no sence of getting up and doing something for themselves. I just believe they're used to getting what they want in most instances and don't know how to keep themselves occupied without causing problems for everyone else.
As for the rest, well my misses and I are seriously thinking of emigrating and part of the reason is the fact that this Great Britain is no longer it's own master. It's sad to say but my Grandfathers generation risked everything for this place and now we're being dictated too by other religions and Brussels. It just seems their fight means nothing

Wow, good old fashioned brave honesty. Its nice to hear once in a while. I actually believe the UK will overcome these strange times. The UK is like a massive dinosaur. Its hard to get it mad but when you have finally angered it there is nothing that can stop it. The UK needs to get a sense of itself again.Paddysprat wrote:I work with teenagers 16 years +. Also, the public health care should be completely privatized. The NHS should be a fund for people who cant afford to pay their medical bills. The rest of us should get a massive tax break so we can choose how to spend our money. Just my two cents. I know its none of my business because Im a guest in this country. I am glad to be a guest and I respect the UK enormously. Its where my genes are from, just not my passport...

I've just realised that I never actually gave an real answer to your question but went of on one.
I can only really give my opinion in relation to todays teenagers.
I believe some of the problems with todays teenagers are:
1. What I have already stated in my first reply.
2. The wrong type of role model. Take Amy Winohouse at this years Glastonbury Festival. She was so of her mamories that she could hardly walk straight and certainly couldn't sing. However, the next day radio and TV programmes are saying she did a fantastic act. The whole thing about celebs getting away with assaults, drugs offences and other crimes sends out the wrong messages.
3. Teenagers know and I mean really know that they have you by the balls. They know that if you put one foot wrong with them they can have you and in the case of people like me, who work with them, they can have your job taken from you. Which in turn means you'll never work with kids and teenagers ever again. There is no protection for adults and too much nicey nicey softly softly with todays youth.
4. They think that because they've come from a tough background this gives them the God given right to be thugs. In some cases these young people are incredibly disturbed by the circumstances they are in and do need time and effort putting into them. However, it annoys me when you see and hear reporters, MP's and even child workers saying "he/she comes from a one parent family" or "they never really knew their father". So what? this is not an excuss. the problem is young people will use this as an excuss because they know it works.
I know a teacher who used to teach in North London. She had to teach behind a protective screen similar to those found on buses. She was also advised to change her route home everyday so that she could make sure she wasn't being followed. If something did happen to her in the class room I'm betting nothing much would happen to the student(s) involved other than suspension.
My advice to the Govenment would be to take a stronger stance on youths and to back up those adults who are in the front lines.
It's also interesting to note that those young people who have given attitude and shown no respect towards my colleagues and I in the past, have all come from pretty well off backgrounds (future politicians?).
There's just no sence of pride in anything where a majority of todays youth is concerned.
