Major G. Lacoste?
Major G. Lacoste?
Hi all. I have a limited edition print of the action at Arnhem bridge signed Lacoste. I was told this was Major G. Lacoste.
I was wondering if Major Lacoste was a veteran of Market Garden and if he did other paintings. Any information would be gratefully received.
Thank you.

Re: Major G. Lacoste?
Major Gerry (or Jerry) Lacoste was an Intelligence Officer (GSO-2) at the headquarters of 6th Airborne division at the time of the Normandy landings.TomCat wrote:Hi all. I have a limited edition print of the action at Arnhem bridge signed Lacoste. I was told this was Major G. Lacoste.

There may have other Major G. Lacostes in the Airborne forces at the time, but it's not a very common name.

And I`ve just done your painting as well
Use the URL when you want to link to an external site but use the Img button to link to an image, and after being such a helpfull old mod, I`m going to piss on your bonfire Tom.
That isn`t Arnhem, it`s Pegasus Bridge over the Orne in Normany, captured by the Ox and Bucks Gliderborne lads
Nice painting though, Johnnie Frost was there with Richard Todd. A brilliant job by all concerned. Last time I saw the Pont, it was slowly rusting away in the field next to the river. Did hear that it may go into an Airborne Musee but we left UKers well before that may have happened
And welcome aboard to you both, have a tot

That`s good mate. I`m glad about that.
It was in a sad old state in 01 and if it wasn`t for the efforts of the locals and Airborne Forces Assoc, amongst others, the bridge would`ve gone for scrap. Kermit finally realised that here was the first tangible symbol of La Liberation.
Give`em a few years and just like Waterloo is all about Bonaparte and you have to really look ver hard to discover that he didn`t actually win....
Well mate, you may be reading about the glorious French assault sur le Pont
Don`t mention any of this to Frank S, as he gets a bit er, you know
Bonne Soiree, Fernand, mon ami
