Nice to see another H&K procurement. It's the H&K GMG.
A Royal Marine armed with the new Automatic Lightweight Grenade Launcher during a live firing exercise on Salisbury Plain near Warminster 19 October 2006. British ground troops in Afghanistan are to be equipped with the new battlefield weapon. The Ministry of Defence has bought the German made Heckler and Koch weapon which can be mounted on to Land Rover vehicles to increase firepower on the battlefield. The weapon has a rate of fire of up to 340 rounds per minute and fires 40mm high explosive grenades out to ranges of 2000 metres in either single shot or automatic modes. Good bit of kit. Saw the RM with them out in afghan before i left, test firing.

I doubt its very hard to clean either. I thought the .50 cal would be a beast to clean but its not atall.

Not too sure about the fat one on top cover, his beret is far too "para regt". :P

Surprised the yanks aren't using this type of kit already...

Agree on the beret - 1st Battalion, going by where his cap badge is (half way around the side of his head)...?

Either that or he's done the All Arms Military Personal Image Course...now taking names for the 2007 season.

Ya beat me to it, was going to say that the yanks have been using the MK19 for years now. You think we've come up with something to mount on our vehicles before they have?? Unfortunately, we dont have as much firepower as the yanks do and we always seem to be one or two steps behind them firepower wise.

Nuts aint it :o

Those weapons absolutely DESTROY anything they shoot, i've seen so many videos of them on the net.

Imagine a huge collum of hummers all armed with MK19's and Mini guns - whos going to want to attack that?? I think even aircraft would abandon a low-level bombing run on that one.

If only we had the bloody money ey...

I remember reading that as a test for the old 'Puff the Magic Dragon' gunships - Dakotas, used during the Vietnam War - the aircraft would over-fly a football field where a rabbit had been released, and opened fire with its miniguns....the rabbit got slotted on the first pass each time.

Do a google search for the photos taken by Larry Burrows during the same period, of the gunships in action - they are outstanding.
