Hi everyone,
On the 4th November I am going to do the 9-miler Commando test around the lanes and paths surrounding my university town in Oxford. I'll be carrying all the right weight etc. etc. and of course attempt to keep it within 90 mins.
This is all to raise money for the South Pole expedition for which I am the expedition leader. Full details are at
http://www.journeysouth2007.com/
but the basics are that we aim to man-haul our sleds fully unassisted from the Antarctic coast to the Geographic Pole. No help, no resupplies. The running costs of the expedition are very high and the four team members are doing fundraisers in their various corners of the country.
We aim to set a number of records including first team to undertake the route we are planning on, youngest man ever (21), youngest leader ever (21) and first cancer survivor to make the pole (Rich Smith, an RMR guy has twice beaten cancer in 5 years). Fully details of the team (2 of 4 of us are RMR) are on the website. I have now twice passed POC (once at 16yo) and passed AIB at 16. My final AIB for YO2008 entry to CTCRM is in February.
So, all it leaves is for me to say that we would be eternally grateful if you would sponsor me!! Every little bit helps and it all adds up!! All you have to do is follow this link (you don't need to be a Paypal member to donate):
http://www.journeysouth2007.com/
and click on the donate button!!!
Please also note that we have just started the chat forum on the homepage. Keep an eye above it to see when a team member is planning to be online and we can answer questions about the expedition or anything else at all!!
Thanks very much for reading everyone and I really hope that you will consider Journey South 2007 a venture worth supporting!
Alex.
