Good question mate (second post). Might be worth opening a new thread just for that question because most people will think this thread is only about the title and not look at it.

It's not a good question at all really!!
If he would have done any research at all like the majority of other users do, he wouldn't be asking something as stupid as "what is there to do for pleasure?" "any sports or something?"
You only have to look at the official RM, RN, Army sites to see exactly what kind of sports/recreation is available and positively encouraged!!
Rebel it is obvious you have done no research at all, subsequently I think with questions like that you will struggle to be taken seriously!!
Look up the official sites, you will find all the information you need regarding sport and recreation.
senior prison officer HMP Parkhurst: "do you know what a psycho is, as you so eliquently put it?"
Grandad: "course I do, he's a geezer wot dresses up in his mothers clothes"

Hi,

sorry but i have done lots of research, I know that each regiment encourages sports such as football tennis and so on, but but on operations what can you do for pleasure? Do they have a cinema at base and so on ?

what can you do on your time off ?

sorry to be a bit vague but i have no idea what operations are like.

What I meant by good question is that I dont know the answer to the question and would like to know the answer to the question. I would like to know what troops/marines do on exercises/operations for entertainment. Exercise is a bit more straightforward as drinking would be allowed. If you or anyone else could answer this I would be grateful.

Harry.

The most important thing you have to concern yourself with is watching, listening and learning...all the other stuff will fall into place.

You sign up to serve, you are paid 24/7/365, if you work 150 hrs a week or 10hrs, you learn to deal with what you are expected to do.

I can't speak for the 'bleeps' as i wasn't one, but my experience of ops is long hours, little sleep, eat/sh1te when you can, keeping your kit clean and ready and your weapon too, being switched on and just sticking it out....hurry up and wait is the motto, you spend lots of time just waiting to do things, or waiting for nothing to happen.

No-one can prepare you for ops....just be sure of your skills, pack the right kit and be ready to do your job, and the rest will fall into place.

And of course, trust your mates.
