British military fitness

Post by Strathclyde »

Hi has anyone ever used British military fitness classes? They do classes in parks around the country, just wondering if they are any good? Does anyone have any info or experiences of these guys?

British Military Fitness classes are very similar to an army PT session. In fact, they are identical. The only difference is that you are not being yelled at by the staff. Instead, they encourage you and keep you going. There are three levels of fitness - novice, intermediate and advance. It's a great way to prepare yourself physically for the military, but you need to join at the intermediate level really to get a true workout. For the Parachute Regiment, you need to be at the top level. The guy who runs it did P Coy in the 1970s and he said that you should be STARTING your training months in advance on the intermediate level three times a week with running on your non-BMF days.

There are a number of 4 Para lads in London who do it regularly and fly through the advanced classes. They told me that it's similar to their PT sessions and keeps them in good shape.

Hope this helps.
