Smashing pics Bert. Sailing ship's and their history was a lifelong passion of my old dad.

I will see if I can dig out his old photos of many square riggers.

I`d love a shot of what those young Swedes and English kids are getting on that ship. To complete a long passage on a tall ship. Dunno if you saw the BBC series which re-created the voyage of HM Barque Endeavour, Capn Cook`s ship? Well the crew were all"volunteers" and came from all aspects of life including a couple of still serving Matelots. One of whom was the fat Chiefy from the other excellant beeb series about HMS Brilliant. 8)
Fat bloke chatting to posh tart at British Consulate in Naples
"Hello, do you work in the consulate then?"
"Yers, I`m the senior consular assistant, are you from the ship?"
"Yers, I`m the ship`s gynaecologist!"

How`s that for a trapping line then? :P

Clocked her homepage today and the current vid is a tad behind.
It`s of her arrival in Freo with an Oz Navy Band giving it root toot on the Oh What A Pity, She`s Only One Titty To Bang Against The Wall 8)
Clock the Abbos doing er hmm, summat :-? These geezers turn to for any event like this. Fark knows who invites them because the Aussies just stare at the ground and no other Abbos attend. Embarrased mumblings and then they tend to thin out. Probably some dance group on an arts grant, we could do with a few more of them you know
I was hoping they`d have vid of her leaving Freo. From my phots you can see what sort of day it was. Here`s to her, safe passage, aye :drinking:

She`s two thirds into the passage to Jakarta, and about half her crew were swapped in Freo. Including the old chokey geezer guarding the tangerines
Good luck to her, I say

Jim, she was very impressive mate. I`d spent the whole afternoon on her and once I`d got the former Swede hookey on-board I was free to roam all over her.
Seeing her leave Freo was spectaclular though. I stood on the North Mole less than 150 yards away as she cast off and I followed her down the water. Total silence from her but I could hear the hurdey gurdeys giving it "hoist yer t`gallants" and "two six, heave, two six heave" in svenske ver clearly.

"Ahead two-thirds impulse Scotty"

I`m glad she made the passage home safe, well done them 8)
