Errr..less hard work in the Regiment i suppose! ie, you don't have to do a commando course. But then, you don't get the green beret in the Regiment! Other advantages i suppose would be the ones you'd associate with the blue RAF. Less bullshit (from what i'm told), possibly better food and accom' etc. Plus you're already in the RAF, so the transition would be easier i suppose. What trade are you at present?

Im an Ops assistant at the moment and have been for a while its the change over thats really bothering me, i like the air force but hate the job tried to stick at it but it isn't for me, but there is something apealing in the challenge getting the green beret entails but then you dont have the long career as you do in the regt, but id feel id taken the easy option altho i would like to get on 2 sqn

See your point, although i wouldn't refer to the Regiment as 'the easy option' (I am of course, biased), maybe the easier option! You won't have the challenge of getting your Globe and Laurel in the Regt, but there are plenty of branches you can take that aren't exactly as easy as the women in Bury St Edmunds. Like you say, you can go II Sqn, take your Sniper course etc. You'll also be able to compete in plenty of mil' skills competitions such as Cambrian Patrol, Peacekeeper, Swiss raid etc. I'd recommend you go and chat to the Rocks at your GDT Section (they're not that scary!) and ask them about what they've done, just try to avoid any of the old boys who are on their way out and are'nt interested anymore! We get this all the time on our unit, usually when we're in the bar and the lads have had a couple of drinks so feelo more able to chat with us about it.
