Damaged boots

Post by AequitasBellum »

Hi

I passed my PRMC about 6 weeks ago and i've done a pretty good job of breaking in my boots and they are very comfortable now. The only problem is that they've got some serious scuff marks on them. Mainly at the front above the toes and a few scuffs on the sides.
I've tried polishing them over and over again, rubbing them with a hot spoon, and dabbing polish into the scuffs but nothing works.
I don't really want to turn up to training with damaged boots. It probably seems like a little insignificant thing, but its one more thing that I dont want/need punished for.
Does anyone know how to sort this out and make them look brand spanking new again? Or should I buy a new pair?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Dont worry about it buddy they wont say anything about scracthes and scuffs, just make sure there clean and polished including the soles, ready for your arrival at Lympschvitz. P.s You only ever bull the toe caps on your drill boots and drill shoes and theywill be issued to you at ctc.

Get an old iron, remove all polish from boots and melt the leather back together. then polish them up. you may still see a "scar" depending on the severity of the scuff, but the iron thing does work. Just dont use your Mums best one or she'll go ballistic when she does her shirts :o

Just heat up the leather each side of scuff then push the edges together until they stick they iron over the top . Use the edge of the iron and dont worry about starch or anything

As long as they are clean, it shouldn`t be a problem As stated, Parade boots and your shoes should be the only footwear "Spit`n`polished"

Combat boots lead a hard life by the very nature of their job. Don`t worry about it.

Thanks guys i've been pretty worried about that. I think i'll give the thing with the iron a try. Maybe while i'm at it I could practice ironing some of my clothes. I've heard they might make me iron my clothes every now and again at CTC.

Within your first week you'll be issued a second pair of boots anyhow, one for camp and one for the field. Keep scuffed ones for field, no-one ever looks at them other than to make sure they're clean.

Careful mate with the stitching, you can just wind up with a pile of bits of leather
