Methinks the scales will have to be recalibrated. Whatever hit the hook took about 3k of 200lb mono and most of the lead. Must get a new transom, it wore a groove with the heat of the line streaming astern. My mate Ahab said it reminded him of an evening in the southern ocean when...................

Good one Jenny - even though it makes no mention of the rehabilitation
that took place , leaving the integral 'shell' intact and only renovating
the inside of the Blocks.

I was there both before and after the renovation. ( lucky I suppose ).
The coat of arms in the Galley had Turris Fortisimo est nomen Jehovah
as the motto - Plymouth's..... I noticed because the food wasn't all that interesting and there was nowt else to read.... chicken on a raft etc with
a couple of hearts of something, anyway all the food had had parents so it
was good....(even the beans)

When standing guard on the old gate ( to the harbour where we had our
cutters and dinghies ) the Sgt of the Guard asked me if I thought I was
Francis of Assisi.... I had peanuts in my greatcoat pocket and had been
feeding the pigeons and myself while guarding the entrance to the pub....
the flock was all out of proportion mind you...

Wind was good for sailing down to the Barbican - out, turn to the left -
up to the Minerva - stagger - from the Barbican - out, turn to the right -
canny man, canny.....

Any of you lads ever get detailed for saluting guns crew at Eastern Kings.

Remember Vanguard coming down at 0430 0n bright Summers day, magnificent sight as she came through the mist, and we proceeded to awaken all and sundry with the salute.

Saluting Guns Crew......

HMS Endurance, the original. Escorting the Royal Navy's entrance in the Round the Globe race 72 or 73 got off the Cape Horn and decided to fire a salute as they ebntered the South Atlantic........Trouble was that the Spud Tanky had filled the barrel full of tatties!!... Salute fired and almost at the same instant the large Genoa the yacht was carrying split from Head to the foot..... They were not happy bunnies that day..
