Logic

Post by Ste Preece »

John,
I like your logic. I wrote the first two books to move on with my life. I guess the Novel is for a different reason. I intend to dedicate it to all past serving Royal Marines. I'm sure you'll understand why once I've finished it.

I'll gladly pass on a couple of chapters once I near completion. Thanks for the idea. I hadn't thought of it.

Cheers

No worries I am sure you are doing your best to promote your writing but have you also considered short articles for men's mags? It just another way to get your name in the shop window :)

As far as fictiion you will have worked out it's a competitive market but you can do no worse than mcgrabbs latest "deep black".... must do a review on this site sometime as it's pretty bland stuff!

Good luck

Thats not a bad idea, and plus it will give us an insight as to what your new book will be all about. I think in the militry world you are pretty well known anyway, but publically you may not be. But you said yourself you are aiming to dedicate it towards ex serving marines.

All the best Steve, cant wait for it to come out!

I'm not quite sure that the above makes a lot of sense but the phrase -"Gives a great insight", is just not true.

It does not give a true insight of what service in the Royal Marines is like at all. The training is tough but the instructors will not "beast" you.
And Steves account of life after training does not match up to what life is really like. To receive the sort of treatment that Steve claimed he had - he had to be a real prat and universally disliked by his comrades.

rifleman,
Go and do the training - and if you come out of the other end and then serve in a Commando Unit, you will see why the old and bold despise his book.

The Old and The Bold

Universally disliked. what a load of bollix. If I was disliked then all those who stood by me on the once a marine forum would have said so. Funny, nobody who served with me actually made any reference to this pathetic statement. My first book did rattle a numebr of cages. Some liked it and some didn't. It was MY story though and based on fact.

I defended what I wrote and even proved what I wrote. It was warts and all. However, I did state at the outset that the book focuses on a different side of life. I was truly a loose cannon at that time and was lucky to get away with a lot of the things I did get away with.

I got bored some time ago with the denial, name calling etc that the same people posted time and time again. Here, read all the threads inside this thread and make your own mind up.

Even so, this thread shows that parts of the book have inspired people to join the corps so I guess something positive has come out of it.

My second book, tells a different story which is now thankfully concluded.

My next book is coming along fine. I'm going to dedicate it to all past and serving servicemen, but in particular to the Royal Marines.

All the best guys
