I couldn't give two monkeys about this thread, but I am interested as what you find so offensive and racist?

Despite me being a blimmin' past master at anything, there is absolutely no reason why any blimmin' reasonable, rational, clear thinking adult should lose his or her blimmin' grip on reality and get at each others blimmin' throats.
Read the the blimmin' terms of agreement, which are supposed to be upheld by the blimmin' Mods, and you will see that there is no get out clause which allows
abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material
if blimmin' Rogue Chef's posts provoke you.

SO19, Tab, Jabcrosshook, Holger Danske, Wholley and one or two others have not lost their sense of proportion and reasoning when participating in robust debate. For those of you who have (HH swears at any blimmin' opportunity and should not be included), calm down.

Aitch, I first encountered the word blimmin' in Viz, as spoken by the character 'Spoilt Bastard'. I took it as an alternative to the Brit used intensifier 'blooming' which I will have to do some research on to discover the blimmin' origin.

It is what you are best at ..... find some crap in the Daily Mail, copy and paste it and stand back to watch the sparks fly.

And then you are the first to carp when the debate becomes 'robust.'

or any other material
Hmmm kinda makes the posts rather empty doesn't it.

Not true. I usually find some carp in the Daily Mail and then am the first to crap when the debate becomes abusive!

As I stated a few blimmin' posts back, robust debate is welcomed and encouraged, abusive vitriol is not. Well not by blimmin' me anyway.

The link to the blimmin' Daily Mail was incidental as it was reporting a TV show (the BBC's highly acclaimed Horizon series) and not the Mail's view or standpoint. It could have come from other sources.

http://library.digiguide.com/lib/episod ... ing-634387

http://www.a2mediagroup.com/?c=175&a=20561

or watch it on BBC2 at 2100hrs on 15th January.

The post was informative and was intended to invite mature discussion. If anyone wants to interpret that differently, that is your blimmin' choice.

In future I could attach a disclaimer notice with all my posts, "Do not read if you are easliy provoked into calling fellow members naughty blimmin' names!"

Kiwi,
I didn't set the blimmin' terms of agreement, and I'm not in a position to blimmin' well enforce them (more's the pity!), but we all agreed to abide them. I am however available for robust spankings. Just don't use the studded paddle as it leaves marks!

This may take some time,so try to stay awake at the back!
Firstly I have spent the majority of my life in the United States so I speak and write American English where the apostrophe is largely redundant unless your using the colloquialism'Y'ALL'
The letter U is also STR(Harbor, etc)
However,
as a sprog I was the chair of my schools debating society and could zap anyone who became abusive, threatening or used sexual innuendo to get their point across(Turret's disease having not been diagnosed at that time)
So,having got my explanations out of the way I'll hurry along to my point.

We are all adults here,so lets knock it off with the personal abuse or I will not hesitate to move this thread some place more private and remove some of the more vitriolic posts.

Oh,
on a lighter note my favorite characters in Viz are Mrs.Brady,Roger Melly and Evan Jellical(though at my age I have to get my partners son to buy it for me,saves a few raised eyebrows at the local CostCutter)

Thanks Wholley,

The apostrophe is used to indicate possession or omission.

Example - Rogue Chef's posts (possession - the posts of Rogue Chef) don't (omission of the letter 'o' - do not) provoke people into being blimmin' (omission of the letter 'g' - blimming) nasty to each other.

Not entirely surprisingly, Viz is not available out here!

Is blimmin' considered abusive or vitriolic?

We should go back to conjugating Latin verbs then.
That way no-one under fifty will understand a word we say.

The whole debate about the debate has become rather 'Twee'.

I hope the expression doesn't offend anyone! :-?
