Well i for one enjoyed , he showed comendable guts and will to win

You wouldnt catch me out in Siberian in minus anything , I can only assume he is getting paid a shitload of money for it

Quite a few amusing asides this week

"The skis were shit so I binned them"
"I've dug a hole in the ground now I'll sleep for a bit" ( looked like a grave to me mate )

for once I'm actually putting a Chris Ryan book on my Xmas list

Actually Wholly you are right. Seabee's made up the 1st UDT units. Then later they recruited openly, then some place around Nam they went broad spectrum and became SEAL/s. Most teams are similar, many have special characteristics.
We are set up very different than other forces, we also have Force Recon, and Recon Units assingned to Division on down to Battalion in the USMC with even an Amphibious Raid Company in every MEU. They are Raid Units that come in in company strength via Zodiacs, and Boston whalers.

Our Divers and EOD are part of the make up as well. On Coronado they still had a UDT 11 boat out by the Galley in 1994 when I was there.
Let them call me a rebel and I welcome it, I feel no concern from it; but I should suffer the misery of demons were I to make a whore of my soul. (Thomas Paine)

Lew, this is why I don't like this effort as much as the other SAS programs; this is very much entertainment orientated, the control team seemed to be trying to keep the groups close enough to keep things interesting for the viewer, while not allowing Ryan to be caught (at least not quickly). The Channel 4 job was decent journalism, and SAS: Are you tough enough genuinely tested people, whereas this was just trying to make good TV. Hence the hunter force were probably told how to dress, what to do etc.
The end part seemed to be pretty much the same as the last but with added snow, insofar as Ryan is hiding in vegetation (I wondered whether the SEAL bloke who mentioned he saw a head pop up had some director scream down the radio, "NO YOU BLODY DIDN'T!"). Suspect rescue vehicle comes along (follow it? What kind of silly idea is that? :) ), lands, Ryan dashes straight towards it, hunter force dashes straight towards Ryan, just misses, and group hugs all round.
All in all, not much better or worse than last weeks, though I have to admit being interested in mountain and arctic shenanigans, I was more drawn to this one :).

And I'm guessing the SEALs were likened to the SAS because the SAS is interesting and no-one's heard of the SBS :).

The end did seem very similar

Maybe its done that way to make an exciting climax or maybe the head shed doesnt have a real good imagination

I suppose one problem is that they can't really go around shooting at "targets" which would have solved the is it isnt it query for the head

still haven't seen the show, as thursday is a good night out round here. but it seems to me that the show is just another filler for the BBC to either be watched or not to be wached, no real information or griping story line.

It would be funny watching him go through interrogation every week, I think even the toughest of the tough would snap eventually and when someone snaps properly its an amusing event.

Well I doubt I'll be watching the next episode. I just couldn't get into it. I definatley agree that there should be more information regarding survival because last episode just seemed to be a shot of Chris freezing his gonads off, then one of the hunter team doing the same thing and then a clip of one of them saying it's quite dangerouse.

Is there anything left for the TV producers to do with the SAS name? Maybe "SAS Dog School "or "Who Wants to be interrorgated and Tortured for a Couple of Days (Celebrity Special)"

Hello people I am back from Amsterdam, well back to the topic. I missed the episode on Thursday as I was away, so I have still got to watch it. Seems like a few people did not enjoy it, but i’ll watch it it tonight and see what its like.

Good to be back

He came back with more than duty free. He had to hide it all up his exit-hole though, poor lad.

Well we all moan about hunting big chris...but what about david beckhams body parts :o :o :o what a genius idea that is!!!

How about Huntin David Beckham? surley we could use the hunter force, telll them where the RZ is and wait...making david wait for years in the desert for them to go? solves to problems as after a while...maybe a long while :o people would get bored:)

cheers, davo
