Oh Ross, only a month to go and the nerves are showing; it won't be the only thing showing if you get near Mrs H. I take it you want to arrive at Lympstone intact? Roll over, and give up for now while the going is good, be a new age man. Leave annoying Loz to stupid bastards like me and Harry. 8)

Loz

You're being a bit hard on RO55. It was me who started the bit about cap badges on the side of the head. I don't care if the guy is an RSM, topnotch good egg. If he's RM and wearing a cap badge on the side of the head then he should go to the Doc and get his neck straightened. :bday:

What happened to leading by example? Unless the whole Corps has succumbed to the new "fashion", that is. Eccentric beret wearing and the like should be left to the Ruperts.

Jeeeeeeeeeesus, Ross. In fact he's a rank higher, the RSM is Regimental Sergeant Major, or as far as you are going to be concerned 'God'.

Ross,

I tried to warn you, but you wouldn't listen, not a good quality in the Corps.

When the man says "Shit in it", then the best thing is take his advice AND zip it.

As for the RSM being God, as I remember it God would ask advice from the RSM

Correct, I am suitably humbled and bow to your greater knowledge Oh Pissed One. :o

Now Ross, pay attention, notice the humility, subtle bowing and scraping before an enlightened and experienced 'hand', as other ranks are called.

Ross

You may be feeling a bit down from this lambasting from the Old and the Bold. But remember one thing: the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked!

Keep going and don't be put off. Everyone else in the room will be dying to ask the question you're the only one with the bottle to ask. However, a certain amount of discretion might be prudent! :-?

The thought has just occurred! You might well have been casting the bait and reeled in some really big fish!! If so, good onya!

But be honest. Are you sure you didn't know what RSM meant? According to my dictionary it's the Royal School of Mines or the Royal School of Medicine. Mind you, if you intend to report to CTC you may want to do a bit of research of your own.

Sisyphus, Ross has been here for ages, he knows we are only pulling his chain. He also knows he gets hormonal, like he did before his PRMC and now just weeks before he joins up; trouble is he occasionally gets punchy when hormonal.

Ahoy there!
Ro55, it seems to me, got a bit of rough ride for what was technically an accurate observation. The picture in question appears in the RM 2003 calendar (thanks Jay, very much apreciated), and the said RSM appears to be wearing his 'field beret'. Having known him for 20 years or so, I can say that if you walked into his office wearing a similar garment your feet would not touch the ground, Damn right too.
