Not much will be. The WMIKs were great, we put a hell of a lot of mileage on ours, over some very tough terrain. They started going US in the last couple of weeks though, I reckon the Marines will be having fun with them now! (they were handed over at the end of our tour)

[quote="Paratrooper01"Not too sure about the WMIK vehicles and how they performed; i know they are not too good if you drive over a landmine

Don't believe everything you hear. Check your source of information. If it didn't come form a bloke who was told by mates in his platoon that they heard it on a radio when it was all happening, then it probably isn't true.
I KNOW that the marine s like their bullshit and i KNOW that 3 para patrols handed over their vehicles to them in sh*t state, and i was told by a bloke in patrols that the RM were pissed off with that.

I must admit though when we got back to now HMS Bastion for the last week before coming home camp life had become alot more anal under 3Cdo Brigade. There was alot of camp bullshit compared to 3 Para Battlegroup.
Hes right, I heard it from the horses mouth myself. The RM's VORed half of there vehicles as soon as they got them. And because they were hardly any spears in theartre they could'nt sort it out. 3 Para QM's had already shut up shop by then, getting ready for Cyprus where 3 Para were to let off steam (like to know how that went Para01)The RM's were'nt very happy. We had to start using the Light Dragoons spears because of the problems we were starting to have with our CVR(T)'s. Like Ive mentioned before this delayed the RM Patrols releiving us which ment we could'nt support our boys in Nowzad but hey sh*t happens.I KNOW that the marine s like their bullshit and i KNOW that 3 para patrols handed over their vehicles to them in sh*t state, and i was told by a bloke in patrols that the RM were pissed off with that.

Ok that one is probably untrue, i just found it funny. Plus one over on the other side is always goodSO19 wrote:Maybe he's still talking about the withdrawl ?
HCR the piss up we had in cyprus was...eventful! We arrived at "Bloodhound Camp" in the middle of nowhere (it is now renamed "Camp Bloodbath") and we were given some briefs. Mainly we didnt have to do anything for once. No cleaning up after ourselves, no cleaning the block after we left, nothing! The only thing we were to do is enjoy ourselves and avoid getting bitten by snakes, the camp was full of them.
We had the usual padre and mental health briefs but nobody was really listening. Then we had all our uniform washed for us while we went to the beach for a couple of hours. When we came back we changed and started drinking (about 1700 local). Loads of crates of Fosters put out on the tables which was meant to be 2 cans each for free, then the bar was open to buy more. It turned out there was alot less blokes on our trip than previously so we had free beer almost all night which was mainly down to hiding crates under tables and in bushes for lateron! Had scoff about 1900 by which time everyone was quite drunk having not drunk for 6 months (minus R&R). By about 2030 objects started getting thrown at each other, everything from FULL beer cans to tables, chairs, food and anything else that was throwable!
I think naked bar was called towards the end aswell but i dont remember to be honest. There were a few fights that broke out aswell. Oh, and while my platoon sgt was giving us a drunken talk he told one of the company commanders to "f@#k off dickhead". Fair one he was briefing us all up at the time and this officer just butts in. Funny as hell.
Went to the beach again the next day but nobody could be arsed! Most blokes were still half drunk and throwing up by the time we were taken to the airport in Akrotiri (sp?).
Arrived back in Colchester to about 50 press and cameras in our faces, had a talk from the Defence secretary and then we answered some questions for the press. Some of the guys managed to swear on live television which was good, and also say things like "can i go now, all the rest of the blokes are going down town!"
Funny thing was in the background was our accomodation and the whole of A-company was getting pissed up and smashing the block to bits while all of the countries news channels were there!
