I first laid my hands on a AK47 back in 1956 during the Suez invasion when crates of them had been thrown out of a back of lorries in the hope that the civilian would pick them up and fight the invader. Happily the didn't because I for one would not have liked to engage a determined enemy while just armed with a .303 Enfield rifle while they were blazing away with an AK47. Now wannabe_bootneck would like to explain to every one just what your experience is with these weapons and just how many of these weapons you have actually handled

Profile is outdated, my experience is with the TA in a para and commando roled regiment. In my time with them I have handled a lot of weapons for varying reasons, so I do have a bit of an idea as to what I'm talking about when I state facts like this. I have said above I never intended to get into a pissing contest with anyone, I was stating opinion and got attacked by someone who doesn't know me, didn't question where I formed these opinions. I bloody well said all along that my opinions were based on range work with them so hardly the harshest test. I was actually quite good at my job in so far as I had been tested to perform it. Anyway, this is completely off topic and fastly deteriorating into stupid nit picking, if you wanna let it descend into such crack on, I won't voice an opinion on a topic in future as some people ont he board sem incapable of taking points on board if the differ to their own views without shouting walt. I dont think I ever said that the AK wasn't a reliable and robust weapon, find that in my posts anywhere and i'll give you a rimjob. What I said was it wasn't perfect, if it was perfect then there'd be no need to follow fads would their, I've yet to find anyone or man made thing on this planet that doesn't have room for improvement. That's it endex back on topic, I'm retreating.
P.s. I never took anything away from the paras, but stand by my comments.

I have a wee bit of experience with a AK47. I have carried the reminder with me since 67. Not nice to be fired at by one

Mmm....TA Artillery, with an abundance of experience (2 years?), now I can see why you're such an expert on the subject.

And just what the flying feck does that mean Numbnuts????? TA have RHA, RE's And the RLC as Commando trained. Ditto when it comes to the Maroon Beret. So since leaving the Sixth form college you have done both then? My fecking Arse have you!!!

Your 21 at the most but to read your drivel without looking at your profile some people would think you are Gods answer to a perfect soldier!! In point of fact you have been a member of this forum for two years.....Don't kick the Arse out of it Numbnuts. Greenronnie has got the T shirt as I have. So try to Engage your brain before trying to teach people like him and me how to suck eggs!

You have been warned.........OK?
