How dare anyone challenge conventional thinking ………
Two Australian scientists have been awarded the Nobel prize for medicine for their discovery that stomach ulcers can be caused by a bacterial infection.
Are you a scientist now Dave.![]()

Bess.
Firstly if you took the time to carefully read all my previous posts on the para reg forum , you would see that the main point I have trying to make is that doctors have a quite high success rate in treating broken backs, but a very poor success rate in treating herniated disks and degenerated disks, and back pain in general.
Even the BMA admits that their own success rate statistics for surgical treatment of herniated disks are far from desirable. Not just in the UK, but in the west in general.
I have never claimed to have “invented anything” or come up with any new ideas at all. What I was able to do was to diagnose myself with a severely dislocated sacro-iliac joint and spinal twisting when all the doctors said nothing could be done for me.
Since that point, I have found treatments such as the Egoscue Method [ created by Pete Egoscue, ex US Marine officer who successfully treated Jack Niklaus, the world champion golfer ], Inversion Table Therapy [ used by US Rangers to help with back pain ], Spinal Decompression [ used to treat a large number of people from rock stars to football players ], Meilus Muscular Therapy [ used to treat Christie Brinkley, Prince the singer etc etc ]. All of these treatments have been around for a while, however many people [ such as myself ] have been unaware of them up until a while ago.
These treatments are not meant to replace any conventional non-surgical treatments, but rather have prevented surgeries from occurring in many cases in the past.
I PM’d you the phone number and name of a chap in London who is willing to speak to you. You have not called him.
I offered for you to contact me for info on a large group of other people whom you could contact and “check out”. As of today, you have not done that. All were saved from back surgery.
You made negative comments about the x-rays that I showed. I said that you could contact Dr. Erik Lerner in order to view a large number of other x-rays. You have not done that.
I gave you details about Congressman Bill Young’s office [ who are sponsoring the “alternative treatments program” at the Meilus clinic on behalf of the US department of Defence ]. As of today, you have not contacted them.
I offered you the opportunity to contact Tony, the chap whose pictures I put up. You have not done that.
I was at Al Meilus’ clinic today. He has a video of testimonials from a former US 82nd Airborne Division colonel and helicopter pilot for whom the Veteran’s Affairs [ VA ] Dept said nothing more could be done about his back pain, and sent him to the clinic. After a few sessions of treatment, he is pain free. Another was a former US Marine Officer who was in the same position viz a viz back pain. He is now almost completely cured. Al has told me that he will make a copy of the video and give it to me [ hopefully in the next two weeks ].
If you PM me with your address, I will send it to you. Both have reported back to the VA, and if a few more cases are treated successfully, the therapy system will be introduced into the US VA for large scale trials.
Inversion tables were laughed at by many doctors several years ago, yet after a six year study by the US department of Defence, they are in standard use at many Ranger and SF bases .
Spinal decompression systems such as VAX-D and DRX-9000 which were laughed at by doctors 15 years ago are now seen regularly in Doctor’s offices in the US. There are over twenty thousand in use. They are very slowly catching on in the UK and will soon be in Europe etc.

Sarah Key has treated Prince Charles successfully for back pain. She has no medical degree or training. The Queen has been treated successfully by either her or another person with no medical training.
http://www.sarahkey.com/page.cfm?pageID=1
All of these systems were termed “crackpot” by the conventional medical establishment 15 years ago. Some doctors thought that there was no medical proof for their claims, others felt their jobs/livelihoods would be threatened. The former has been laid to rest due to before and after MRI’s/ CT scans/ X-Rays etc. The later via the fact that it has actually created a demand for more doctors in the US trained in use of these therapies.
All of these devices and therapies are merely tools to help doctors, not to replace conventional medical treatments. When they are used properly and in the right situations, they have saved many people from back surgery.
What was regarded as “crackpot” a decade or so ago, in terms of back pain treatment is now accepted by many doctors.
That is why the analogy of the ulcer treatment was used. Conventional medicine sneered at Doctor Barry Marshall. He was condemned by his peers as “useless”. How could ulcers be caused by a simple bacterium ? They all “knew” it was caused by stress, spicy food etc. Mocked by many he nearly lost his job and marriage.
When it was proven he was correct that 90% of ulcers are actually caused by that particular bacterium , they were all silenced.
Dr Burl Pettibon [ of the Pettibon System ], Al Meilus etc were at one time mocked, but scientific evidence has proven them correct.
I am an engineer, not a scientist. I had no contribution whatsoever to any of their inventions, but am merely trying to let people know there are some alternatives to back surgery out there for certain individuals, in certain cases.

Dave just try basic respect and good manners and you should be ok.I was never in the debating club at school but me mum taught me that as a young lad.
However, from what I have seen so far, and your publishing of a PM from greenronnie I will say that you are more of a master debater than I could ever hope to be.
Dave are you angry? You sound it. I‘m not interested in infantile silly names, so if that’s your style your get the same treatment. I think we now have a pretty good idea why the Doctor (Ruth) ignored you.![]()
Good luck with your crusade and the Masters degree in telling Doctors and surgeons their job.

The University of South Florida is conducting clinical trials on burns victims just now with good success so far at the Meilus Clinic. This data will be passed to UK authorities later, in order that they can hopefully start trials on British Servicemen.
Once all the clinical data has been compiled for the US portion of tests, the VA will be onpassing the data to overseas allies including the UK.
They shall also be conducting trials on Al Meilus’ treatment therapy for Osgood Schlatter patients due to his extensive clinical records of successful treatments.
You can contact them [ re burns program ] at:

Here's something you can do if you wish:
Let's forget for just now, all the previous mails, all the rest of it.
Find any doctor, medic, whoever at any time, and have them go through any of the serious posts on back pain which I have published on the para reg forum. Have them go through the clinical data previously published which I mentioned. They can critique as they see fit. I would welcome them giving any comments.
Or, you can say
"Nobody will take you seriously mate !!!
Get some manners in, I'm not wasting me time on that !!"
"Naah mate !!!!
I've got students down the plant all theory don't know nothing "
Whichever one you wish is fine by me.

Fusilier wrote:Let me ask you this question. Right now at this moment, what are you personally doing to help our injured servicemen ? I would be interested to find out
Dave I'm not so crass as to tell everyone what I do or don't do. However I am not on any mission. I now look out for me and my family while paying my fair share of taxes.
Alternative or supplementary treatment is fine. In fact an open mind is positively to be encouraged. Exceptions to a general rule are not however evidence in support of your views and proof the current medical treatment is wrong.
Without any disrespect, the fact that you are an orthopaedic surgeon means nothing to me.
Your reply was not very respectful to the Doctor was it? The truth is your handful of supposed success stories, could well mean nothing to most people. Both in and out of the medical field.
I'm assuming of course that you are a surgeon and not a 17 year old kid still living with his mum.
If you are serious about professionals replying to your posts you may well have to work on your debating skills mate.
I can go on the internet and find thousands of so called cures. In the Express yesterday I found a promotion selling a copper insole which will help all sorts of arches and pains. In fact there was a couple of old people singing its merits on how it had helped them.![]()
At my current job, I regularly have fresh University graduates with chemical degrees come onto my plant. They mean well but they are dangerous because nearly everything they know is from books and theory.
You stated “ My handful of so called success stories “which just stops short of calling me a liar.
I sent you the phone number of a chap in London whom I’ve been helping , and requested you to call him. You have not done so.
I will send his phone number and the numbers of a bunch of people in the states including personal e-mail information to Hyperlithe. I’d ask her to send that info to anyone else in the UK if she sees fit. You or whoever. To whatever address she choses, I will have my family in the UK send sufficient funds to cover phone call costs.
Either you or someone else can call these people and ask them what they think about me.

Hello Doc
Firstly I apologize for any friction that I may have caused with anyone. That was not my intention. I’ll be careful what I say, as I know a lot of people will be reading my posts and saying “Who is this ***** ?”
I know absolutely nothing about gunshot wounds, trauma care, stomach injuries etc etc. I wouldn’t know where to begin if someone said “This bloke has a virus etc”. I’ve never wanted to be involved in any type of medical profession.
The only areas I can claim to have some knowledge about is that of muscles and their effect on the body, and a little about tinnitus [ only a little as I battle that every day, but have managed to reduce mine from a very bad level to something I can live with ].
In the US, back pain is now the number 2 reason for people visiting the doctor. The number of cases is increasing every year. The people who managed to get me back on my feet have found that in the majority of cases it is muscular related. Sitting at desks all day, military life [ bergans etc ] can cause muscles to tighten and also cause slight changes in the angles of the spine. These can lead to pain.
Whilst waiting to get back to work, I thought I’d try to share some of the things I have picked up along the way. I’ve been on a few civilian forums for a while, and only stumbled upon this one by chance.
My goals were to try and pass on info on back pain and perhaps to give a little hope to those who have been suffering back pain for a long time without relief.
As far as the OS is concerned, there are many people who are adults who have been diagnosed with OS whose growth plates have closed. I was only wanting to start a discussion on that. I was rude to Ruth and that was my fault.
The main thing that I wanted to try was to onpass information that may eventually help some of our comrades who have injured in roadside bombings and who have been burned.
When those bombs go off, massive compression shock waves hit the spine, often causing herniated disks, in addition to their other horrible injuries. Doctors do their best, but some of the new techniques such as spinal decompression are unfamiliar to them. Last year, I had a young National Guard military policeman in the bed next to mine. He had two bulging disks due to compression from when his hummvee was blown six feet in the air. He was unable to resume his normal duties for the County Sherriff’s department in Lakeland. He had been to Walter Reed and had his broken arm fixed, but they were unable to do anything about the disks. By releasing tight muscles in his lower back, after three weeks, he was able to resume his duties.
For me the most heartbreaking are the burns victims. I had seen a few burned people before but the sight of some of these young men has given me some terrible night’s sleep. Many have heads all pulled to one side due to the skin having melted and pulled tight. Al Meilus’ robot can help lengthen the tight tissue and allow a more normal range of motion. The VA is sending more of these type of cases to him each day.
Some time back I sent e-mails to Stoke-Mandeville Spinal Center and many others about all this, but never even got a reply.
Again, sorry about the friction. It’s just that I get bad days and get frustrated at times when I see other people whom I’ve sent to see the specialists I’ve mentioned get completely healed, and yet my own progress is very slow.
My experience here with the US soldiers has been that when they are at Walter Reed, they are amongst their mates and in a proper military environment. For many, their morale is high because of it, despite their injuries. It’s when they are sent home to live with their mum and dad or whoever that a lot of problems occur. Now they are in a place where they do not have the support of their friends, and many other mental problems can surface. My hope is that someone like that who has back problems [ provided there is no spinal chord damage ] may gain a bit of hope.
Within the next few months the “alternative treatments program” will be stepped up and hopefully some public announcements from the Veteran’s Administration before the end of the year.
If any of my babblings help even one person from going through the six months of hell that I endured, then it will be worth it.
I wish you all good luck.
Dave

Dave let me firstly apologise, bad day here in la la land and I threw my teddies in my post above.
Suggestion, instead of adding to posts with your knowledge why not do write ups in the assistance forum and that way you are helping without interupting.
What you say is quality, I was just getting hacked off with threads being hijacked, or the appearance of it being so.
Draw a line move on heads up friends again

I went to the doctors yesterday about chronic knee pain that had spread to my shins and thighs and I was starting to feel the symptoms in my arms as well.
The doctor tried to diagnose osgood schlatters, yet when I then went to my college physio (army PT trainer for 17 years and still serving) ( I am in military preperation college) he said it was basically growing pains due to muscles not getting the correct nutrients and such that they need when doing intense training. As such he gave me a special eating plan to follow whereas the doc is trying to recommend surgery. whenever I have had to see the physio before all his advice and treatment has been spot on ( well it worked) so I am worried the doc has misdiagnosed it.
If the doctor has put it down as osgood how will that affect my application to the armed forces?
