I think that that's a good point and also ditto about the rugby. But I still don't think that supplements are that necessary. You only need to train to PRMC or POC standard to start with, the Corps will do the rest but progressively to allow your body to adapt.

To get ready for PRMC or POC you need train for what a 7 minute mile, 60 press-ups, 80 sit-ups and 10 pull-ups? I know it's all about endurance, so I'm going to build up progressivly from 3 milers, then up to 4 for a while then 5 and so on. It pushes your body to the limit (sort of!) but not so much so that, in my opinion, that it cannot repair and develop by itself.

I don't think there're totally unnecessary but I don't think you need them for entry standard in the RM. If you get in, that's a different matter. Even if you play regular sport on top of your training, I honestly don't belive you need to supplement your body's natural development or resources. Since I have never tried them you could say I was nieve (sic?) but I agree more with what faddius has said. Healthy but not extreme diet, regular PROGRESSIVE exercise and a good state of mind will hopefully do what it takes for you to get into CTC.

David you're right there.

But regarding what some others have said....ffs.

Spot on David. I use supplements, but cherish my magical Nancy Clark Sports Nutrition book more.

Worth a look, nothing special. No bullshit either.

The thing to remember about supplements though is that they don't make you feel magical and alert. You'd be much better working on a postive attitude and committment rather than training in the wrong frame of mind, thinking that creatine is going to give you a psychological high. I've been guilty of this in the past too.
