Very true, we all forget to engage our brains sometimes, me included, more than once.

@ JCAP3 - The lads were saying that his knee pads slipped off, and as he didn't have time to readjust on the endurance course they became readily apparent when he was running as they were swinging round his ankles!

I should say once again this may be a bit of an urban myth, I can't remember who brought it up, the enlisted guys who may have possibly known the fella or someone else.
