I enjoyed the PRMC while I fooking hated the POC because my cardio was crap so I'v never been in so much pain in my life - I was more prepared for the PRMC this time anyway and I found the lads were a good laugh too.Goy wrote:Brilliant diary JCAP3 and good luck for RT!
How did you find the PRMC compared to the POC?

Hey everyone, just a quick few questions -
I'm very interested in joining the Royal Marines, I'm going for the gym 1.5 mile test soon and hope to be down doing my prmc asap.
The only thing that will really fail me in training is press-ups and pull-ups because a while ago I broke my shoulder and stopped doing pretty much all forms of exercise. I've been training for the best part of 2 months now, pushing myself pretty hard in all aspects of training (running, and all general circuit work, weights etc) but I'm still hopeless at press-ups and pull-ups. I'm fine with running and situps as such, just seems my upper body strength is letting me down when it comes to holding my body weight. Any tips or pointers on how to sort it out other than just keep doing them? I don't really fancy going down to PRMC and getting bollocked because I can't do basic press-ups. Thanks!

Try light reps on a regular basis. And if you can get an Oppo to join in that way you have a sort of counterweight to push against. Have a look in the part of the forum asking for training partners. Or see if you can get help from one of the fitness instructors at your local gym on a one to one basis.Dempsey wrote:Hey everyone, just a quick few questions -

There's loads of people who smoke, I know 2 bootnecks on here that do, it's up to you what you do, there's no set criteria that makes you a Marine, just as long as you can do whats required. You can turn up shiters for phys in the morning as much as you want just so long as your on time and you can do it.
We are what we do
Thanks artist! I feel like I'm pushing myself over my limit, my problem is my left arm (the shoulder I broke) gives in al ot earlier than my right arm, then my right arm is taking most of the weight and that gives in too. I'm just worried that when time to go for PRMC comes I'll get my arse handed to me for not doing as many as everyone else!

Broken bones take time to heal as we all know. As I said try light reps as heavy reps will be a waste of time.

Lol why on EARTH would you go to your PRMC with a RM tattoo?! You may as well turn up wearing a T-shirt saying "I've just popped down to collect my green lid".johnnyValencia wrote:great diary there mate! well done! oh yea lol at the guy with the RMC tattoo, guess he couldnt wait for the green lid first
Re: JCAP3 - PRMC DIARY
One of my best mates is former SB and he's smoked for years. Fair play if you can smoke and still make the grade I suppose, but I always said to him "just think how much more of an animal you'd have been if you didn't smoke!", to which he just grinsrossy-d wrote:What do you mean by a bad time?
