Ohh trust me on that one, i know all about that. Too many people walk around 'tooled' up. Yes it does take the bigger man to walk away, but as its plainly obvious sometimes that just doesnt work and they need to be stood up to.

Many people dont know about what they're legally allowed to do in these situations, having your own ROE (Rules Of Engagement) is very important in street survival - once again, your ROE should be bending towards the law side of things. Many people dont know what to do, which is a shame really but in a way its bad because if everyone knew, the attacker could use that exscuse to his/her advantage as well.

People piss and moan about the war in iraq, guantanamo bay and world poverty, but when are the protests for sorting this country out? there are nowhere near enough police and the current government is just using PCSO's to try and be sneaky sadly.

I was in a pub on new years eve, having a good laugh with my mate and with everyone one else around me, going for it with the music, buying drinks, being bought drinks, chatting and just generally having a good old time before i moved off to a club, it was euphoric! :D

Of course it never lasts does it. That night within the space of 2 hours i saw 4 guys get thrown out for making trouble and fighting, and this is on new years eve, what a bunch of prats to go out getting too off your rocker and looking for trouble, bunch of c*nts. I even had a good few 'wrong looks' myself but i just irgnored them, even when i can still see them looking at me in the corner of my eye, so the rest of my time in that pub was spent having a good time but being vigilant incase it kicked off. I was glad to have left soon after, didnt fancy a bar fight when i was having such a good time.

I was in a pub new years eve and within 20 minutes of being in there a guy threw a pint glass at a group of girls(something to do with one of the girls bf's brother) how pathetic is that? Anyway my mates went over see what was happening etc.. while i just sat where i was and continued to drink my pint, they then thought i was weird for not being arsed and acting like nothing happened. One thing i have learnt in life is to not get involved in other people problems. The further i am away from it the better of i am, i go out to enjoy myself not fight.

That was the only trouble all night. Although there was plenty of guys talking gobble di goo about how they battered this guy and that guy etc...

I can vouch for this. Just last week, i bump into a m8 and he starts going on about how he had a knife pulled on him 10 minutes before. It went like so. He walked out of a shop and a group of chavs were standing outside. One of them (about 15-16 years old - propper little d*ckhead) shouted something at him, so he stopped and not so politely asked him what he said. Fair enough, being on his own and with a group of 5 or 6 chavs, he should have kept walking but he didnt. Anyway. This little chav pushed him, so he pushed him back, meanwhile another one tries to punch him. He managed to dodge the punch (so he says anyway, hes never been the most agile) and push him back aswell. At this point another one pulls a stanley knife out and charges at him! The guys about 16 years old! Obviously my mate took a ride in his leather personnel carriers but if these locals are carrying knifes now, the worlds is at an end.

Their stupidity shows because the whole incident took place in an area overlooked by CCTV. A few minutes later, a line of chavs against the wall with handcuffs on and knife(s) confiscated.

unbelievable.

Today, you can never have a fist to fist fight, one or the other will have knife, gun or some sort of weapon. In my view them guys are shite, and when you see one of them on there own they put their head down, only when there is a few of them they think there all big. Todays youth and even some sad grown ups have forgotten how to be real, as use there hands if need be, although fighting is not a good idea, so i am not promoting we should all result to hand to hand fighting, just that it would be better and less blood would be shed for stupud things... Like these days you could get shot or stabbed for just looking at someone.

People will never intervene nowadays because they fear geting stabbed or shot. I remember when i was in year 7 i was like 4 ft and almost got robbed by a bunch of 6 blacks. This was at a busy bus stop and no one did anything, except the butcher who came out with his meat cleaver :P

I carry a swiss army knife around everywhere, always have. Never have I considered using it on anyone, in any situation - infact I think my fists would be far more effective than digging your thumb in trying to get the bloody knife blade out.

I have seen people threaten others, and almost got into a rough situation myself.. at least fists arent fatal. I believe there should be some form of chivilary in brawling... which means no knives.

Looks like you beat me to it! :P

Im glad i grew up in an area which has a good share of skum. But my area also has its very good share of people who are middle aged who have lived there, their whole lives - so everyone knows who these people are really and they know not to really cross with them. Saying that i am not intimidated in the lightest by chavs and all these 'gangstas' because i have grown up in an area that has a reputation. Just glad i have good parents who raised me right and made me get a decent education, and more importantly, i was taught how to handle myself, especially these days im glad i have learnt what i have done.

And yeah we have alot of them who walk around with knuckle-dusters, knifes, swords, letter opens - you name it, i've probably seen it - mugs!

Not scared - fact.

Beats going down your local and risk getting bottled, stabbed, etc in my opinion. Not alot of people like the music though.

As sad as this is, theres no better thread to include it.

The recent events of L/Cpl McBlain being stabbed to death in a street fight unfortunately sums it all up.

Sad stuff...
