not doing any harm though a post like this. Where all ambitious or we wouldn’t be going in the Marines.
Oh yes mate definatley, although my AFCO told me you do 2 years on General Duties before you can even consider specialisation, and then there is a waiting list for certain branches. Im wary of thinking too far ahead as there is a lad I know who got to week 28 (!) of training! Still he's going back in, such is the allure of the Corps!

Who said I was so keen on dieing? If I die and I could still think, At least I'll be able to think I'd made the most of my only chance living. All I'm basicly saying Is I want to go into battle because I'm sick minded, And would not be worryed if I died. But anyway back to the forum (and I know sombodys gonna try and catch me out there if they can.)back back back to the origanl thread disscusion and sorry for changing it.

DaveN, sarastro - agreed!

I was sat with a mate fishing on a canal once, when some twit wandered over and started chatting, it cropped up that I intended to join the Marines, he blurted "Royal Marines? F*ckin brainwashed they are, you'd kill your own mum with them..."
Not sure when they cover that in training! Week 29? :o

Fair to say, there is a lot of sub-standard knowledge of the Royals bandying about... bless the few in the know, eh.

stinky furby, i think you have a very immature view of death. Its not just you and your life, its everyone who knows you, and loves you. Think about your family. 6 years time you might have a wife and a child, you think you will want to throw yourself into some heroic death then? Life obviously means more to some people than others.

point made.

Stinky, I honestly think you'd be more suited to working for the Salvation Army or the Peace Corps. They go into battle every day mate... please consider them.

Don't you dare take the piss out of Stinky, Felias. He might spout some complete shite at times, but at least he's honest, and not some bloody spineless, lying Walt like your good self.

Just leaving for a month or two then coming back hoping that everyone has forgotten you isn't going to cut it matey, we aren't some dim w@#k who are going to fall for it at MF. Either fess up, explain yourself, or piss off - or you aren't going to be let alone until you do.

back on to subject

i started wanting to join becase my dad and grandad was in the army, and my other grandad was in the navy so i listened to thier stories and advice and decided that i wanted to join, then at our school a marine came in and spoke to and gave us information on joining, i researched further and decided that marines is for me-even if its a long way off yet :D

....ive never read such funny shit, im gobsmacked!

back to the subject, ive always wanted to join the forces after i had a year out after my A levels workin behind a desk and decided the civvie life aint for me, being an active sporty guy (mainly rugby). just wasnt sure which one although marines was top of my list. then i went to watch my mate pass out from 888 troop and that was it for me. got my pjft this week and then hopefully get my prmc date.

I'll have to thank the Royal Tournament for my interest. Every year as far back as i can remember my Dad would take me. And even as a child the first stand i would visit would be Royal's.
