Or have a look at the documentaries on sky. Noticed a few royal marines programs have been on recently.

Last year they were running that operation D day raw recruits programme for the 60th anniversary of D day and it they did a couple of episodes with the marines.

It will proberly be repeated on UKTV or gold or something this year since its nearly the 61st anniversary

Little tip Matrix without trying to get on your back. Every time you write a text have MICROSOFT WORD on another window, copy the text then paste it on WORD. Quickly and easily correct your spelling and grammar mistakes then copy it and paste it back on your text window.

They’ll still rag the f@#k out of you but that’s one less thing to worry about! lol

Matrix, you've barged your way into these forums, having a go and acting very immature. Ok you are a kid but there are a few things that will tell you if the RM is for you

are you fit and can you push yourself beyond the pain barrier everytime

ask nicely and Im sure the answers will come

as for doing searches and too much stuff comes up, then read it all dear boy as thats what everyone else does.

Goto stores and draw out a sense of humour

stop this Marines-Sniper-SAS crap, think School-Quals-PRMC-Training

Good luck

Matrix, the above is the best advice I’ve seen being put forward to someone new joining these forums in a long time. Take heed, listen carefully, for Christ sakes don’t get on the wrong side of Artist or Hackorff or your stay here will be short and bitter.

If you’re still in school you've got plenty of time to research a bit about the RM, visit an AFCO and ask for some leaflets etc.

As doc said, take it one step at a time and who knows what’s possible.

God, I’m in a good mood today :-?

Lew, I would be dissapointed if I hadn't got a reaction! That was the whole idea! I was fishing to see exactly what kind of character our young Neo was and get a rough idea of his age. Due to the recent influx of dreamers, twonks and numpties wanting to leave school as a direct entrant to UKSF I reserve the right to use military humour as a form of testing! If they haven't got a sense of humour not only are they probably pursuing the wrong career path but also the wrong Forum! I have no problem what so ever helping those genuine people who wish to join up and who when using these forums take the time to use the search facility before asking questions which either have been asked many times before or are plain stupid! The number of young hopefuls using this forum sensibly and successfully to aid their aspirations are proof that this is not too much to ask and that the difference between being helped or ridiculed can be as trivial as using good English, not using text-speak and thinking before posting. As the majority seem to be able to do this, those that don't are either plain lazy or just ignorant and will be treated accordingly.

p.s Don't mean to pry Lew but what exactly were you thinking when you wrote that last line as surely YOU wouldn't want to handle your sisters, would you?

HN I couldn’t agree more with what you have just written, most of the people here know my thoughts about txt spk  , my post was aimed more at the other wannabes who were slating this poor misguided lad for sticking up for himself over a question that would get any normal bloke thumped down the pub on a Friday night

And as for that ^^^^^ 8) nah not my style mate, I don’t chew straw and am not called earl, (whitey wholley I am in no way implying that all you Americans are in bread and sleep with your cousins before you start  )

I simply meant I have seen them draw in chew up and spit out entire hoards of men. To put it another way, no one at my rugby club has enough guts to try their luck, and you know there are only 3 things on a rugby players mind. 1. Rugby 2. Beer. 3. Women, (not always in that order).

Now are you going "come out" of the corner or aren’t you :P

This forum has really gone down hill. I'm amazed people aint calling each other f**king "noobs". Though i thought the "joining the sas" bit was a bit annoying.

Must admit these questions piss me off. But then I asked similar ones a year ago (okay, I never started talking about specialisations etc, let alone SF, but still). At the end of the day, the majority of new lads on here want to get a feel for the what the Corps is about. Let's face it, if you walk into a pub anywhere that ain't Corps pissed and start throwing the humour around, civvies don't get it. A lot of the questions have been asked many times before, but all it takes is a well meaning point in the right direction of 'Search' with no slagging and the learning process begins. Certainly at least one distinguished painter on these forums (no names mentioned, aye  ) has had a disagreement with my views, but at the close of play it's a public forum. Walters piss everyone off and should be binned at the earliest opportunity, but genuine interest, no matter how naive, should at least be given a chance. If you don't like a post, ignore it, don't scare the poor noobie off :) Remember, we're the public face of the Corps

^^^^

One of the only intelligent posts in this thread.

We all have to start from somewhere even if the questions are incredibly irritating
