Except that tanks can't hold ground. That's the infantry's job. I think that the guy with the RPG might take issue with it being the tank's territory, especially in close country, even if he is only capable of a mobility kill.

Oh........you know what I mean! They're the only thing that really had me running for my life in the field at night. They started one up one night and started manouevering it around, and as it was driven by Eyetalians I dived into my trench.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

KKKorekt. Bloody scary! Rolled in my slug into the trench and waited for the top to come in. 6 Troop Foxy Coy, under Coco.

Gotcha. I see what you mean. That happened to me only once and, yes, adrenalin has never smelled so bad. We were heading down into a valley through trees on S'bury Plain. As we came out of the tree line, we couldn't see a thing. Next thing we knew this tank cranked up right in front of us. We scooted back into the trees PDQ, hoping the bugger wasn't planning on coming our way. Definitely a lesson learned!

I agree. I have very limited knowledge of the military situation, but two years ago, I was in the Army cadets; the hoo-ha about Iraq started, troops started to mobilise, and the CCT came round and said we had to return our SUSAT sights. Fair enough, the real troops need them, but why are we at the stage where proper sights for the general issue weapon are not available in sufficient numbers, and yet young lads who want to play soldiers are issued them??

Small world in the Corps. :) I was attached to the Ities. Now THAT was scary! They really were, well, you can guess......

Mind you the 1/4 bottle of brandy in the 24hr ration pack went down very well. :drinking:

And yes, tanks are terrifying beasts!

Sis

Not the dreaded San Marko's (Iti Marines) Different to say the least.

On a more serious note. You will never ever get what you need as long as yer bum points downwards in the Armed forces.

You just learn to adapt and improvise. It was what I did and a heck of a lot of other people did.

Start worrying about lack of kit and you might as well refuse to soldier and stay in Barracks. Just face it, you join up and you do what your told. It is life in a uniform.
