Mike
I am impressed at your total confidence in your ability to spot a 'Walter', when, having read your posts, I see you are still trying to decide which outfit to join when you finish your education.
Dave.Mil dropped a big hint that you were wrong in your assumption about Sneaky being a 'Walter'. I will, therefore, drop you an even bigger hint, and tell you that Sneaky and I met yesterday, as we often do, as we only live a few miles apart, and he is totally and utterly genuine.
Moreover, I have exposed many 'Walters' on this, and other sites, and I can assure you that you are 'totally and utterly' wrong.
Best of luck in your career choice. End of.
Aye, Derek

Well now this is getting interesting!
Just a few observations that may be of interest.
Sneaky Beaky entered this forum and openly stated that he was a former member of the SBS.
After the likes of Hawkeye and SC**2 you would have to be an idiot or the real thing to make such a statement.
Some of you may have noticed that there is a strong element of both serving and former marines to be found in this forum.
I would suggest that Sneaky Beaky would have been checked out by certain people to confirm the truth of his statement about being a former marine and a member of the SBS.
If it was found that Sneaky Beaky was not the genuine article I believe that this would have been pointed out and he would no longer be allowed to post.
Mike B.
Read my post, I do not make any claims to be anything be it a former marine, former member of the SBS or even a former brain surgeon!
But I do claim some knowledge about Special Forces.
If I remember in the 'rules of evidence', or something like that, 'opinion' is given by what is termed an expert witness.
Are we to accept that you have sufficient knowledge about the SBS to be such an 'expert witness'?
I think not.
You are out of your depth and 'Bucket of Milk' will not throw you a lifeline.
Bucket of Milk.
Do you claim to be a former member of the SBS, or one of the hangers on? Perhaps you failed the course?
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I was informed by a member of the RAF that this was/is the motto of the RAF parachute school.
Does this apply to you or are you on a fishing trip (again)?
Henry Morgan well known English pirate!
Allistone Bag, a fashion statement?
Perishers course? Why should Sneaky Beaky do this course?
Looking forward with interest to your next post.

BoM,
As has been said a little knowledge etc. You speak of a "reedy place" which you describe as being in the Bay.
Which Bay?
Is this reedy place accessible from the sea? If you've been there you will know, but it still doesn't make you SB.
What nickname did the Gravs have for SB, and no it isn't Sneaky Beakies.
When you do your first water jumps, where do they take place?
What actions do you take prior to entering the water.
What happens after you enter the water?
How are Kleppers parachuted into the water?
What is the raiding shed?
What model of Klepper is in use?
What type of seats do they use?
We await your answers with interest.

We have covered this subject before(spotting Walters).
It seems obvious to me that if someone needed to prove who he was in the services he could simply scan his documents and send them to a Moderator.
If,as in my case security is still important a simple quote of the document number would surfice.
Same goes for ex members,A document is issued stating what service you were in and time served.Im afraid i do not know if said document says S.A.S. or S.B.S for S.F.
I dont see why not as when ive met them they just say who they are 22, 23, 264 etc.
As for Sneaky Beaky coming straght out and saying he was S.B.S i dont see a problem. He is just saying what he was in.
If you do not believe him that is your problem.
Im sure Sneaky won't loose any sleep over it.
WAKE UP SNEAKY
Just to add,i dont know Sneaky but using him as an example.

I used to be in the SASS (Saturday and Sunday Soldier)
You will notice from Rotary's post above that he has met Sneaky and knows him. End of story. I know Rotary, as do those who did last years Yomp, consequently we trust him.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Wow!! Have I started WW3 ?!!
Thanks fella's for the support!
Mr. Bucket of Milk. In answer to your questions.
1. Yes, if I think they are not genuine.
2. I do know a "Mogger Morgan" and a "Boots Allistone" but they don't relate to what you refer to although Allistone is a bit of a bag! (Sorry Boots!)
3. I've done the Perishers course at least a dozen times. So can you tell me what it refers to?

Well Mr Beaky it seems I have to wind my neck in, consider that done. I certainly started a storm there I will be a little more circumspect in the future. I think I owe you an answer to your question so:- The perishers course is the one of the final pass courses for a sub commander SB play a small role in this to test infil and exfil procedures and yes the Morgan towing system plays a very inportant part in this. "Boots" perfected/invented the water proof bag with the zip which is a godsend for keeping kit clean and dry (cacheing).
As to all the other questions which have come firing in I'll take on a couple.
Archie.
Anywhere up the banks of the Frome is a good place for overnight lay-ups, problem is its tidal so halfway through the night you can find yourself tipped over and up to your necks in mud.
Before you hit the water drop your kit, and locate that pallet, or it could be a long swim.
In the water release your canopy (Kake wells) get clear get your fins on.
First practised off studland. Most big kit going in with you is palletised.
And the things that are supposed to save your arse on long paddles the little square plastic things which clip to the deckboard arn't worth a carrot normally kit is re-arranged so you can sit on your bergan. Enough said!
It dos'nt really matter what I was or was'nt in my time, I like others just feel its a duty to ask questions about those who come right out with "I was in so and so unit"
Well thats about it for this thread (is that the word?), end ex.
All the best Mr Beaky.
