I am now back in Norway after a holiday visiting relatives in the UK.

I have had the oppertunity to scan the british press and unfortunately (?)
there still is nothing that has been reported that can convince me that the reason for the US with its allies going to war was nothing more than economic.

The Independant has been particulary scathing, but not in an emotional, rather factual way of the war. As stated previously I support our troops, but cannot see the justification for this war.

Yesterday in the Norwegian press there werre frontpage fotos of US troops breaking the Geneva convention by making Iraqi men walk naked through the streets to humiliate them.

Gentlemen if this was not an invasion what was it, and why are the US not rebuilding the infrastructure (hospitals, schools, water, sewage) as fast as they are getting the OIL pipelines working???????????

The excuse of opening the pipelines so that Iraq can start earning revenue to rebuild is popycock for want of a less explitive word.

On capitulation the troops should have moved out and the engineers in with some reserves to act as police.

Whatever Bush and Blair say is basically to me just waffle,

A quote from a newspaper from one of Bushes recent speaches

" Nearly all our imports come from foreign countries"

The man is a loser with too much power.

Rant rant rant rant.....

Oh yes and the tendering for contracts for rebuilding of Iraq
exclusively US companies that suppert DUBYA.
This was highlighted by the Independant when P&O FAILED to make the list for rebuilding of the port.
The fact that they are the worlds largest shipping company obviously disqualifies them.
Every meal a banquet, every paypacket a fortune...

Couldn't agree more. Have a read of "The best democracy money can buy..." by Greg Palast. Quite an eye opener - truth is stranger, and more disturbing, than fiction. That's if it's the truth of course but Palast is like a ferret in the rabbit warren of corporate corruption and criminality in the US - bear in mind though that the US, for all its faults, has a far more open book society than us and more freedom of information. He's a very brave man.
