I am currently at University studying Aeronautical Engineering, last exam is in 2 days time and I graduate on the 5th July this year.

I am trying for officer entry in 2008 and am planning to join the RMR in Newcastle or Glasgow between finishing university and going for the POC and AIB. I am hoping to find a job with a degree of responsibility but since it is only going to be for a year possibly then I will not be able to go for anything too proper as they will not take me on knowing I may be leaving them fairly soon after. I'll hopefully get something sorted though.

Hey i'm currently in the process of joining up onto that course i'm thinking about doing the BTEC First diploma and/or national diploma.

Did any of you guys do any of these courses? if so can you shed some light on what it's like, what did you do? was it good fun? where did you go? just a general description :)

I went to a open day and had a chat with one of the tutors but i want to hear it from people who have actually done the course.

Thanks
jt.

jt. - i did a first diploma in public services last year and found it ok, only because i came away with a decent enough grade, but we were made promises that were not kept. we were told that wed go and visit various camps/bases up and down the country, spend time in the great outdoors, go to tenerife and scuba dive blah blah blah, but instead all we got was a 2 day trip down to portsmouth and a visit to an "outdoor centre" used by cubs and scouts
what makes it worse is that the other college down the road made up for everything we missed out on!
so make sure you find out from the current students that what the tutors have told you is gospel and not a load of porky pies just to get you in and make the numbers up, as im sure my college isnt the only one!
all the best mate,

jonno
