Reasons for joining?

Alright, i already said that i didn't see it in a way others did, now i realize, so i withdraw that post. Joining the Royal Marines for the challenge is not selfish!!, happy now lol

for me there's many reasons for joining,some more influential than others,and admittedly sometimes i doubt them because of a few things such as the whole political thing,putting your life in the hands of some daft politician etc,but the biggest reason for me,what continues to motivate me to give it a go is the picture in my head of me sitting there,an old man in my chair looking back on my life and regretting the fact that i didnt give it my all and try to be the best i could.(as far as i know) we only get one life,what could be more frustrating looking back and knowing you didnt reach your potential,after all,we're all going to die and its not how much money we have at the end of it or how much of an easy life we've led,but what we've achieved and accomplished.

for me its also about proving it to myself,cos to be perfectly honest i have my doubts as to whether i can get that green lid,which gives me all the more motivation to go out and get it..i can't even begin to imagine that feeling you get when you pass out,you must feel like you can do anything in the world.

I'm the same, and I think you'd have to be very arrogant, very naive or as hard as nails to go down to CTCRM feeling 100% certain that within 9 months you'd have your green lid.

To a degree, I find that a bit of self-doubt is actually a good motivator in that you never let yourself completely relax so you're always pushing hard trying to make sure that you succeed. I know a former booty who was so nervous when he first went down to start RT that he almost shat himself after getting off the train! He also told me that he'd cried himself to sleep on more than one occasion once down there yet he knuckled down and got his little green ferret because he wanted it bad enough.
