Yet-mae:

Because you do not do marine-style one armed pressups.

Marine style press ups put a lot more pressure on the joint as the motion created at its peak is forcing the joint in a range of motion it is very limited in.

Doing normal press ups puts a lot less pressure against the wrist because you can put yourself into the most comfortable position with the rotation of the wrist and any natural pronation of the hands as you perform the exercise. It is the same with one armed press-ups. You have your arm in the position most comfortable where the weight goes through your palm to the floor.

If you find any pressure against the joint it means simply you need to find a more appropriate position for your arm.

Its all about technique to facilitate the appropriate movement.

Mods:

I think it particularly poor of you to disallow discussion of an exercise just because the old and bold or a former royal say so.

Generally we don't!

But if the exercise is deemed to be dangerous or not necessary then we will advise, we have to.

Can you not see that 90% people that posted on this particular topic are fed up to the eye balls with the complete nonsense of doing them?

Including the ex booties and moderaters?

And yet people are still determined to proove that their right and that 1 arm press ups are important?

Bruce lee him self can tell me how good they are, I won't be doing them to pass my PRMC or RT. Yaaaaaaaaawwwnn.

Think I will try to ignore the rest of the posts about this daft topic. See ramz has not alot to say about it either, probably nursing his ego.

Can't this be locked yet before it turns into more bickering.

Yet-mae

It was me who said "I think it particularly poor of you to disallow discussion of an exercise just because the old and bold or a former royal say so.". Well done for showing everyone present you did not even read my contribution before mouthing off in responce to it.by responding to my objective reasoning with an empty tirade about opinions of people in this thread. That does not count as discussion. You are very defencive. Who is trying to prove they are right? This post is my third ever on this forum, my previous two bringing my knowledge as a former PTI and now a part time Gym Instructor/Personal Trainer.

Why are you so stuck on the one-armed-press-up/martial art link? If you wish to ignore this 'daft topic' while blindly following only what ex-booties say, then thats a loss you can bear.

What is this supposed to mean: I won't be doing them to pass my PRMC or RT. Yaaaaaaaaawwwnn.

How immature. Firstly who has said you have to do them to pass your PRMC? Secondly, if you want to talk like that when a PTI says something to you assuming you make it to RT or even on your PRMC because maybe something new has been bought in and an old and bold here has not recommended it, you crack on son.

Finally, why do you think this is bickering? You would appear to be the person being ignorant and immature.

I would ask the Mods here, Mfat_Man and Artist to check the postings in this thread and observe exactly who as contributed and who has just made comments like the one you made above.

This information is here for people to make their own minds up on, not for you to start mouthing off on becoming an arguement to prove "who's right".

Sorry to say that Artist had pointed out that the 1 handed press-ups were a waste of time and was virtually ignored... To be honest if you want to debate more advance physical forms of exercise I don't think this is the right place save it for another time.

Don't get your leotard in a twist fizzles.

Your a gym teacher, not a Royal Marines Commando teacher.

That's the last of my time this thread is having as to me it's irrelevent and boring now.

Your a PT to probably fat over weight people, not potential RM. :)

That's me out, or my posts will get more imature and more sour, just like a lemon.

That was a bit uncalled for. Because someone has basically torn apart your arguement you turn to childly insulting them??

I was trying my best not too get involved with this topic as I beleive silly threads like this should be left to die, however I have failed.

And further to what the previous poster said Yet-Mae: I'd suggest you learn to read properly before attempting to join the forces.

I am a former PTI and NOW a gym instructor/personal trainer, having said that twice before this time I thought you might have picked it up. Thanks for proving you don't read what you are replying to.

Not that it would matter since Royal Marines do not have their own brand science behind physical training.

You keep embarassing yourself son.
