Shadowcreeper,

you say there is a certain way in which to carry out the bleep test...Could you please enlighten us on how this is conducted?

Thanks

I'll second that - the physiotherapist has finally given me the all clear to run again, something I haven't done in a very long time. I've got a bleep test at the end of March. Any advice would be very much appreciated, I need help!

(btw, it's not a dire situation as I can get the required standard, I just want to do really well)

No Chappy I'm not "bull shitting". What reason have I got to lie about that ?
I didn't think anything of it at the time, but then reading the above posts it appears level 14/15 is rarely reached.
Level 14/15 would be laughed at within most athletics/running clubs, and isn't anything unbelievable like certain people are implying.

p.s. GGHT whats this :-? mean't to mean ?

Most people can probably reach 13/14 or maybe even 15 that go on prmc. The best i have ever got is 13.6 but on prmc i got 11.5. This might be because i let my fitness go abit over christmas but also the fact that your farked before you do it doesnt help.

Well, they say that when you do it at your PRMC/POC to expect a lower than usual score to account for nerves and the fact that your not fresh when your doing it.

If you were all getting 14/15 i would say it sounds like you did not get thrashed enough in the build up, or you have some really fit recruits to start with at your unit.

We got thrashed enough, it was the last test we did on the last day, about 2 hours after the 3 mile run, plus we had a warm up for the bleep test not that you need one because it's starts so slow.

Last year I spoke to a lad who had been on the POC and he said that all the lads who passed got over level 14 on the bleep test.

I was just hoping that that was just the way his POC panned out as anything over a level 12 seems to be a rarety on this forum. :-?

Nerdy Running Links

Nerdy running links re bleep test/vo2 max if anyone is interested;

http://www.topendsports.com/testing/beepcalc.htm

http://www.runnersweb.com/running/vo2_j ... anchorcalc

According to these links with a VO2 max of around 57, I'm capable of about a 13 on the bleep test. As I can run a sub 3 hour marathoner and have a resting pulse in the mid 30's (which is considered pretty good) I'm quite surprised to hear how far off the pace I am with all these 14's and 15's being mentioned! very impressive stuff.......or bullshit!

Has the RMR set up a recruiting post in Kenya?

I can see a lot of people reaching level 14, but I dont think many people will get much higher than that. I know people can complete the test, but the highest ive ever seen done was Level 16. My highest was in the twelves, but im hoping to get that upto and above Level 14 in six months time.

According to my VO2 max, I should, in theory, be able to get much higher on the bleep test than I can in practise. Unless you've got good technique for it, surely the bleep test isn't that accurate a predictor of VO2 max?
