And indeed, there it is.

Directly underneath this topic.

Must be the hormones.

Don't bother, chaps. I'll award this week's to myself.

This is exactly what im on about. People like Harry the grumpy old man who picks and chooses who he wants around the place. And i, and im sure other people are very against that on a public forum where every opinion should be equally valid.

Klink Klank, i agree with you. We were led to believe that the Subscription forum was the gentlemens club, and the community forum was the local boozer, metaphorically speaking. Not so sure about the swinging parties though. Although you could be right, and there could be meetings to discuss who should be the next to face the wrath of the mods.

Oh dear..... I really don't want to be dragged into a face-off.

But seeing as I 'Googled' many months ago as a new recruit's parent and this forum was spat out immediately as a result and has been a total Godsend (despite some early argy-bargy) I suspect there are a lot of folk in similar circumstances to my own.

Tin hat on....

There is clearly an enormous amount of stuff talked about on here which would, normally, be unavailable to us ordinary folk.

I, personally, have found it a huge source of information and support, which is why I have found myself drawn back to the site time and again.

I thought the subscription/community idea was a good one as it allowed us a bit of space in both camps to talk freely....ish.

Led to believe that the Subscription forum was the gentlemens club? I really don't know what could lead you to this interpretation. But I guess I fit your description of what you think Harry's like.
Flighty's original apparition on this site as muvs got off to a somewhat rocky start because of diverging political views on a touchy subject. But a number of members agreed with her then and let it be known.

And then there was peace.

We're not talking about the same thing, here. It is not so much what is being discussed but how. Assertions made in support of one's point(s) lead to questions as to the specific experience of the poster. When it turns out that said experience is not in fact personal or professional in nature, I discount it as second to third hand or more.
So Jayne, I see nothing that should make you feel uncomfortable or unwelcome here, despite differences of opinions, nothing at all.
James, I hope you relate to your elders differently face to face than you do online.
I'm not writing all this to perpetuate the slagging match. But I'll say again James, your attitude online has been needing adjusting.

You cheeky little bugger :D never swung in my life, now where is the OMO

You see kids this is banter and this is whats missing, but you get that from experience and im sure when the majority of you actually leave school and join the working world you may find that you can actually intelligently partake of the same. But if you look at the majority of postings now on CMF they are the same questions that have been asked and answered over and over again. IF YOU HAVE A QUERIE TRY THE SEARCH BUTTON FIRST. The members are not here to put you down they are there to help and advise but you have to ask for help if you have a question and i can guarantee that they will bend over backwards to help you, and they will be the first to congratulate you when you do pass out of training. Now if you dont mind im going swinging..........................

Oh and one more thing, its not a gentlemens club - I HAVE TITS

A lot of people have left this forum because they have got fed up to the back teeth with people who fail to engage brain before hitting the keyboard. And quite frankly I came close a few times.

What is worrying is the sudden upsurge of Open Abuse hurled by some people at other members without any real rhyme or reason. These are the ones who will find themselves excluded unless they change ASAP.

I have let Rip once or twice. As have other Older members but it's done because we remember with fondness just how good the Forums where in the early days. Humour and real Knowledge ruled then. Any Open Abuse resulted in the guilty party getting the Order of the Big E quite quickly.

I could not care less what age/sex a person is as long as their input is pertinant to the thread they are commenting on. Of late I have tried to answer openly and honestly any question which I feel I have some knowledge of.

As to this idea that the C/Forums is for kids.........Who said that? I'm sure Beast didnt. And he has the final say in the end. I have Oppos on this site I have known for years and other Oppos who are still in School.

Lets try to get the Forums back to what it was, a Community of Right Thinking people keen to impart/learn about how the forces work both in War and Peace. And Humour in all it's forms is one of the most important elements in all Armed Forces. Without it your knackered!
