I think our american friend here has got too involved with the gung ho that is the US of A. Let me tell you something... Its not the kit that you have got; its how you use it, a concept the Yanks have not yet got your heads round. 1. I would agree with you that the Vietnam conflict was not lost because of drugs. Oliver Stones interpretation of events is not reality. It was lost because of low morale originating from a 5th column on the homefront...my opinion.

2. Im not sure its safe to call James a 'liberal', he is highly skeptical of the present US administration, for many reasons, rightly so, but he is not a 'liberal'...so far as i can pick out.

3. Anyone, i mean ANYONE who was on the receiving end of a German blitzkrieg would of lost, and they did (with the exception of Kursk). That is completely unfair to say, the Americans, with their military readiness at that time, would of folded 10x as fast as the French or English. As for American combat effectiveness, read Men Against Fire (The Problem of Command) by S.L.A. Marshall. Need we go into the Battle of the Bulge?

4. Britain more or less, built its empire on its fine navy, im am no navy enthusiast, but i imagine your comment right there could lead to ban.

5. German jet design at the end of the war was superior to any allied fighter, yes. Problem is...there were no qualified Germans left to fly them, they were all dead.

6. For my skimming through American War of Independence history, toe to toe, the Americans lost to the professional British Army ALMOST every time. Your also avoiding the massive fact that you would NOT have a country if it wasn't for the French, that may sting, but that is the truth.
