Once you have been hit by a bullet or two you are inclined to lose a lot of interest in the battle. If it doesn't kill you it will make a bloody mess of you, and thats you out of it for a long time.

I don't dispute that, it's the Yanks who have been complaining about 5.56 anyway. I think a lot of it was from Afghanistan where apparently half the fighters were unbelievably high off of Opium products, so might have took a bit more stopping than normal, certainly I doubt they felt a lot of pain being that high off opium.

A fairly good hit with a bullet will bring most people down even if they are high on drugs, a lot of this may just be case of of second hand stories doing the round, that are told to other people just to put the wind up them.
Now the old .303 bullet would just go through you, the current ones are designed to spin around inside of you chewing you all up, and will make a bigger mess of you than the older style of bullets

Maybe the Yanks are just crap shots and hit them in limbs instead of central mass! Gone off topic here anyway, and the informed info. is now here.
